At a public primary held Friday evening, at Memorial Hall, A. W. Cherrington was nominated for mayor by the newly organized People's party. Ralph Child and Bill Ruff were named councilmen candidates. It was also voted to retain Mays Anderson as party chairman chair-man ; Bob Winston, vice-chairman and Jay Bingham, secretary. The Independent Party through petitions with the required number num-ber of signers, have nominated Harold Whiting, present councilman, council-man, for the office of mayor; Edward Ed-ward Boyer, incumbent councilman, council-man, a candidate for re-election and. Glen A. Tipton, councilman. It was rumored around town this week that a third party is talking of plans for holding a meeting to nominate another ticket, tick-et, but todate no formal announcement announce-ment has been made. All candidates must file with the city recorder by Monday, October Oc-tober 19, and there remains one more registration day, Tuesday, October 27, before the city election elec-tion on November 3. There will be no election for city recorder and treasurer this year as these two offices, held by Lloyd Ashcraft 'and Janet Cran-dall, Cran-dall, respectively, have become appointive ap-pointive by law. |
