Show Program On South Heard At Club An outstanding program was presented at the meeting of Mothers Study club last Friday' afternoon, when the group met with Mrs. Willis Sumsion. Following the reading read-ing of the collect by Mrs. Nellie Anderson, Richard Sumsion Sum-sion entertained with two piano numbers. The program was on, "Our South America Neighbors" was under direction of Paul Lloyd of the high school faculty fac-ulty and he introduced three students from the BYU who told of their native land. Rafael Ra-fael Juarez described Mexico City and told of their nations holidays. The Christmas observance, ob-servance, he said, begins December De-cember 15 and one of the most colorful celebrations is on September 16, when they cele-. cele-. brate the settlement of Mexico. Mex-ico. He also exhibited a number num-ber of gorgeous handwork from his native land. Donalea Johnson and Fer- , nando Juarez, also from Mexico, Mex-ico, did native dance numbers in costume. A short talk was given also by Arthur Preece, a former LDS missionary to the southland, south-land, who - also entertained with a guitar selection of a Mexican favorite. Mr. Lloyd talked on Argentina, Argen-tina, telling of the people and their customs and told also of the work of the LDS missionaries mission-aries in the country. The hostess served a tasty luncheon at the close of the meeting and was assisted by her daughter Rea Straw. The next meeting was announced an-nounced for December 8, to be at the home of Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence Jensen. |
