Show April Art Show Visitors Select Favorites ( While hundreds of visitors are currently visiting the annual National Na-tional Springville High School Art Exhibit now open to the public at the Art building, many of these visitors about town are wondering just which pictures to take a second sec-ond glance at, as favorite pieces of art. Even students who will be . required to write their art themes are attempting to pick out at least one or two "favorite" canvases. can-vases. Some of the more popular paintings paint-ings with artists and townspeople I were pointed out by Curator Oliver ' Parson of the art department, i Special notice of these paintings may prove interesting. In the Central gallery the following fol-lowing paintings are some of the favorites: No. 7, First Lady, by Dean Fausett of Arlington, Vermont; Ver-mont; No. 12, Wycombe by Harry Leith-Ross of New Hope, Pa., a beautiful snow scene. In the West Gallery No. 48, Afternoon of a Faun by Jack Vigos of Salt Lake City; No. 72, Old Mexican Woman Wo-man by Kenneth Adams of N. Mexico done in water color; No. 77, Santa Paula Valley, a powerful power-ful landscape by Emil J. Kosa of Los Angeles, Calif. Neturno, No. 105 by Pleissner; Fruit and Flowers, No. 115 by Gifford Beal, New York; R. R. Lunch, No. 158 by Carl Gacrtncr of N. Y. ; No. 207 by Frances Colburn are other favored paintings. paint-ings. Several pieces of sculpture work in the lower gallery should not be overlooked. Hughes Curtis has several nice pieces and one statue of Vern Gardner by Campbell is outstanding. Visiting guides who will take tours through the gallery beginning begin-ning Monday, April 16,, are as follows: Monday, Oliver Parson; Tuesday, Roman Andrus of the BYU; Wednesday, Glen Turner, BYU; Thursday, Mae Huntington; Friday, Mary Schwartz. The gallery gal-lery is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Adding much to the appearance of the Art Building this year is the large new spot light which not only lights the entire front yard, but brings the entire Art building to peaples attention. |
