Show Cattle Marketing Law Became Effective July I New and stringent Utah state law against marketing cattle which may be infected with brucellosis bru-cellosis (Bang's disease) became effective July 1. Alden K. Barton, agriculture commission chairman, said the provisions are aimed at safeguarding safeguard-ing cattle and preventing spread of the disease to humans, among whom it is known as undulant fever. The new provisions apply to female fe-male cattle or breeding bulls more than six months of age. These may not be sold except for slaughter unless : 1. The cattle have been tested for brucellosis and found negative nega-tive within 30 days prior to the date of sale. 2. They have been vaccinated against brucellosis with an approved ap-proved vaccine within 24 months. |
