Show CHURCH RENTS WASH, SCHOOL FORJTORAGE The church security plan has grown to the extent that the Kolob stake presidency has deemed deem-ed it necessary to secure larger quarters to house the projects that are now under way in the five wards. The stake presidency met with the Nebo school board August 9 and the board readily consented to the rental of the building and grounds to the Kolob stake. Projects under the church plan are for the members who are unemployed and those Who have spare time. Some of the successful projects which have been sponsored by the wards of the Kolob stake are the cannery operated by the Fifth ward in the old Faunt building?-'To 'date the cannery has produced 20,000 cans of beans and corn and the season has just commenced. The stake Relief Society, assisted as-sisted by the ward organizations, have made drives through their membership for clothing. This clothing has been cleaned, repaired re-paired and pressed and at present pres-ent the project has over 200 pieces of wearing apparel to be distributed among the people who may need it. The sisters have recently ordered ord-ered from the east an automatic loom for the weaving of rugs and carpets. The Society members mem-bers will be trained in this work and many rugs of beautiful beauti-ful design will be made for distribution. dis-tribution. All of the wards of the stake are carrying on farm projects which have proven paying undertakings. un-dertakings. They are now planning plan-ning to haul wood to the school grounds as a work project for the winter, so that all who are out of employment may be kept warm. The school has an up-to-date heating plant, so that farm produce pro-duce stored this winter will not freeze. The Relief Society will move from the Springville Bank building build-ing to its new quarters in the near future, also the Third ward cannery. It is hoped that it will be the busiest corner in Springville this winter. |
