Show PIONEER TO CELEBRATE BIRTHDAY Joseph Vane, well known pio-i pio-i neer resident of this city, will j celebrate his eighty-first birthday anniversary Friday, with a family j dinner at his home. Although Mr. Vance has always been especially active and enjoyed excellent health he is confined to his home at pres-; pres-; ent, with rheumatism. ; Born in Macedon, Wavne county New York, March 9,' 1853, he ! came to Utah in 1847. He worked for some time at Bingham and later in Little Cotton wood canyon. can-yon. During his early life he held a number of responsible positions with the railroads in this section. : He later beacme timber inspector of coal mines in this vicinity. In 1806 he began farming retiring in 1920. He was married to Lucina Clark in 1881. The couple have three children, Joseph H. Vane. Salt Lake: Howard L. Vane and Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall of Springville, Spring-ville, all of whom with their fami- i lies and Mrs. Vane plan to parti- i cipate in the birthday celebra- ! tion Friday. I An interesting item connected with the anniversary observance, ' is the fact that Mr. Vane has a twin brother j. T. Vane who r- sides still at the place of their birth, Rochester, New York. |
