Show SOCIETY NEVS VVoodrow Weight was host to members of the Book of Mormon club last Sunday evening;. The meeting- was held at the home of Clifford Pierce. Following a -discussion of Book of Mormon subjects, a nice lunch was served ser-ved to approximately 20 club j mem bets and guests. The next meeting will be Sunday evening at the home of Miss Virginia Simkins. All members ale urged to be present. Wilcox of Boulder City, New, visited the past week with her mother, Mrs. Rhoda Hatfield and her sister Mrs. Bea Glazier in this city. Mrs. Birdie Thrope was hostess Wednesday night to members of the Ave Delma club at her home. The entertaining rooms were decorated with late autumn : flowers and a Thanksgiving theme was carried out in the ' luncheon which was served early in the evening. Progressive ! bridge was the feature of enter- I tainment with prizes won during the evening by Mrs. Coe Straw nnd Mrs. Ann Johnson: Ten club members and three special guests, Mrs. Helen Thorpe, Mrs. Lillian Thorpe and Mrs. Viola Smith, were in attendance. Stanley Lowe has returned to his home in Jerome, Idaho, after visiting with his mother, Mrs. Alniira Lowe, and other relatives and friends here. Mrs. Lowe accompanied ac-companied her son as far as Sandy, where they visited then-son then-son ar.d brother. Kmil Lowe. Mrs. Kussen Bird and daughters daugh-ters have gone to Redlands. Calif., where they will spend two weeks with the former's brother broth-er Lyman Mctcalf and family. Members of the Ladies Literary Liter-ary club spent a delightfully interesting in-teresting evening Thursday night vhen they were entertained at i he home of Mrs. Harold Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. President Lela Packard was in charge of the program which featured a review of the nlay. "The Merchant of Yonkers." by Thornton Wilder, given in splendid manner by Mrs. Arva Bone. Miss Helen Christensen entertained with a piano selection. selec-tion. Proceeding the program a nicely arranged tray luncheon was served by the hostess. The entire membership of the club was in attendance including '.wenty members and also two quests. The next meeting was announced for Thursday, November Novem-ber 30, at the home of Bert Groesbeck, where Mrs. C. G. Salisbury will review the book, "Tree of Liberty." The club voted vot-ed during the evening to take out a membership in the Hafen-Dallin Art club, following the reading of an invitation read by Secretary Secre-tary Birdella. Bearnson. Mrs. Lena Spencer of Salt Lake City visited the past week with her sister, Mi's. Ann Burns in this city. Forty six members and guests were in attendance at the regular regu-lar monthly meeting of the Legion Le-gion auxiliary Wednesday nig'ht at Memorial hall when moving picture slides of the Yampa river and vicinity, of Alaska and of Florida and Cuba, were shown by Roy DeSpain, J. W. Grant and Elisha Warner, the latter of Spanish Fork. Each gave interesting inter-esting explanations of the pictures pic-tures as they were shown. The Legion auxiliary chorus under the direction of Guy Brown gave two selections and Bob Jenkins and Joe Carnesecca entertained with two instrumental duets,, and Mr. Warner gave two comic readings. read-ings. Miss Harmer, a graduate gradu-ate of the local high school, is a well known beauty operator in this city. A discussion ot the peace amendments was given by Hugh Baxter of the high school faculty and three students, stu-dents, Arnold . Barney, ina San-ford San-ford and Melba Merriot, gave various phases of the subject. An educational paper was also given by Mrs. Ada B. Straw on "International Relations." Music during the afternoon was given by Betty Jean and Margaret Alleman, who rendered a piano duet and by Margaret, w'no gave a piano solo. Mrs. Ellen Anderson also gave two vocal solos, . with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Evelyn Boyer. Betty Jean Alleman also gave a reading. read-ing. In' conclusion, a tasty lunch was served to 28 club members and guests. President Philda Pin-ley Pin-ley had the meeting in charge. Members of the Alpha Beta club were delightfully entertained on Friday afternoon at the home ot Mrs. Milton Harrison. A feature of the program was a talk entitled, en-titled, "Pleasure and Prophets in Photography," given by Dr. ! Wayne B. Hales of the B. Y. U. Glenn Holley and Freeman Bird entertained with two vocal selections se-lections and in .conclusion, a dainty lunch was served by , the hostess to IS club members. Nelson and Mrs. W. W. Clyde were among those from Springville who went to Salt Lake City Monday night to hear Lily Pons sing at the tabernacle. Under direction of the new officers of-ficers of the Third ward Relief society, a social was given Tuesday Tues-day afternoon, honoring the retiring retir-ing executive oficers magazine agent, and class leaders. A program pro-gram followed by lunch featured the occasion with a large crowd in attendance. The honored guests were Mrs. A. B. Gore, lvlrs. Clara Boyer, Mrs. Ivy Anderson, Mrs. Zina Metcalf, Mrs. Charlotte Black, Mrs. Ella Harr-ngton, Mrs. Ivy Anderson, Mrs. Zina Metcalf, Mrs. Charlotte Black, Mrs. Ella lomew, Catherine Tuttle, Wallace Whiteman, Virginia Tuttle and Arthur Frankman. The group enjoyed bridge preceeded by a delicious hot supper. Prizes for the games went to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thorpe, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Straw. Others in attendance at-tendance were Mr. and Mrs. Ray L. Richards as special guests, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Ence, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jollcy, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Robbins and the host and hostess. A 'shower honoring Mrs. J. Clyde Ward will be given Thursday Thurs-day night at the home of Miss Grace Wright. Mrs. Ward is the former Miss Venita Jenkins. . The YHM club held its bimonthly bi-monthly meeting Friday, November Novem-ber 10, at the home of Mrs. Yvonne Johnson. A delightful afternoon was spent, luncheon being served to Mrs. Maryn Johnson, John-son, Mrs. Hazel Clyde, Mrs. Mar-va Mar-va Taylor, Mrs. Jean Brown, Mrs. Jean Richardson, Mrs. Mary San-ford, San-ford, Mrs. Veryl Thompson, Mrs. Salt Lake City last Friday. The ceremony was performed by Bishop JDouglas Thomsen at the home of the groom's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Carter. The hewiyweds enjoyed en-joyed a short trip and returned to the Carter home, on Sunday, where a turkey dinner was given in their honor. A lovely lace dinner din-ner cloth covered the dining table, which was centered with American Beauty roses. A number num-ber of other social events are being planned in honor of the couple, one of which will be a shower given by Mrs. Etta Pax-man Pax-man and Grace Wright at the home of the latter on Thursday evening. Mr. Ward, who is employed em-ployed at the Mullett Jewelry store in Provo, is a former student stu-dent of the B. Y. U. They plan to make their home in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Alleman of Berkeley, Calif., have returned return-ed to their home following . a visit with the former's brother, Will Alleman and family; a sister, sis-ter, Jessie Whitney and family, and other relatives and friends here. Members of the Mothers' Study club spent an interesting afternoon after-noon Friday at the home of Mrs. A lovely party of the season was that given by Mrs. John R. Anderson for a few friends at her home on Monday evening. The feature of entertainment was a review of the book, "Christ in Cement," given in fine manner man-ner by Mrs. Blanch Beal. Music was furnished by Mr. Miller ot Provo and his children. Preceding Preced-ing the entertainment, dinner was served at one long table, centered with cut flowers and with Thanksgiving place cards .arranged for the following: Mrs. Fred Dunn, Mrs. Mark Cook, Mrs. Blanch Beal, Mrs. E.
