Show 'news briefs! . The Adult Education class in Literature is continuing this fall in the bottom room of the library. The fall unit of work is on poetry appreciation. It is beginning begin-ning with a survey of the fundamentals funda-mentals and technicalities of poetry, and will continue with a study of how to interpret poetry.' All adults are invited. The class is held each Wednesday. The Kensington club of the local Community church is sponsoring spon-soring a food sale next Tuesday from 11 a. m. until 6 p. m., at Gamble's store. All are invited to attend. ... Dorothy Wainwright, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wainwright, Wain-wright, is recovering from an appendicitis operation which she underwent on Monday at the Dr. George A. Anderson hospital. Miss Bernice Chader, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Chader, is convalescing from an operation for appendicitis which she underwent under-went last Friday at a Payson hospital. Marian Bird, little daug'hter ot Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bird, is improving at her home from a serious illness. She was removed to her home from the L, D. S. hospital last week. ' The Springville unit of the National Guard joined with other units in the vicinity at a special training at Jordan Narrows over the pp.st week end. The unit will participate in the special training train-ing again next week end, and the week end following also, at the Narrows. Local citizens w'ho have canned can-ned vegetables or meat at the canning center, are requested by Peter Nielson to get it as soon as possible before freezing weather. Seminary students were busy Wednesday selecting their new graduation pins. The class comprises com-prises in the neighborhood of 60 students who should be eligible for graduation this spring. The value of research work to old and young was emphasized emphas-ized in a genealogical convention conven-tion of Kolob stake Sunday in the Fourtn ward chapel, with meeting held in the morning and afternoon, under direction ot Chairman L. E. Harmer of Mapleton. Ma-pleton. Harold Kirby and William Lund of Salt Lake City, represented the general board members as speakers during thc convention. President J. Emmett Bird also spoke, urging Church members to become interested in genealogy genea-logy work. The importance ol stimulating interest among junior jun-ior in research work was also stressed by the speakers. A good attendance featured each session. |
