Show SPORTS BY NED CHILUS The Springrville high school bas- : ketball team has been practicing for some time this fall with some very fine prospects trying out for the team. Coach Hughes has ta i fine lot of men trying out and hopes to pick a squad that will show the other teams in this region that they are out to win the Nebo championship this year. With the opening of the new gym there should be more fight in the team this year than there has been in the past years. Coach Hughes has scheduled several preseason pre-season games this year which will give the men a chance to make good there interest in the Spring-ville Spring-ville high school basketball fight. There are a few old men back this year that should prove to be a good key to the team. The following fol-lowing men have turned out for practice this year: Child, Robertson, Weight, Roth-well, Roth-well, P. Watts, W. Whiting, N. Whiting, Jensen, Averett, Dallm, Olsen, Cameron, Johnson and Blackett. The Red Devils preseason game should give Coach Hughes a chance to place his men for the opening of the Nebo race. The preseason games follows: Dec. 6, Red Devils at Pleasant Grove. : Dec. 15 Red Devils at B. Y. mgn. Dec. 19 Red Devils at Jordan, j Dec. 22 Jordan at Springville. Dec. 29 Davis at Springville. The Davis at Springville game will be the opening of the new gymnasium at which time it will be dedicated. This is gong to be a big improvement for Springville Spring-ville and will create much interest through the season. The Fourth Wara "M" Men team has a pre-season game scheduled for tonight in the high school gym at 8:00 o'clock. The opposing team will be the fast and colorful sixth ward team from Provo. This is the first of the pre-season games this - year which will show more interest for the opening of the league. The following men have reported at practice this year and should be a hard team to beat, Livingston, Mendenhall,Childs, Rowland, Taylor, Tay-lor, Roylance, Averett, Tipton, Nielson, Ostler and Rowland. The public is invited to attend. ! The "M" Men basketball season 'will soon be here, as the teams of the four wards and Mapleton are practising once a week for the opening. The schedule will be drawn up at a meeting next Wednesdays Wed-nesdays night with the opening of the league the first week in December. There seems to be a lot of interest in-terest this year in the "M" Men teams. Each of the wards have lost some key men this year which should make the battle more interesting in-teresting The public is invited to attend these games that should be very interesting to watch.
