From Salt Lake east, through Emigration canyon to the Wyoming Wy-oming line, the burden was taken up by Lawrence Page, another descendant of an original pony express rider. The mail pouch was unlocked here to receive a letter written by Gov. Henry H. Elood to Pres-I Pres-I idem Roosevelt. PONY EXPRESS RIDER ARRIVES SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 13 ilH A lone rider dashed into Salt Lake today, surrendered his locked mail bag to another rider who then galloped east in a rerunning of the historic pony express of 75 years ago. The scene of the mail transfer was in front of the pony express monument on Main street where a throng awaited the rider's arrival, arri-val, just as was the case in Pioneer Pi-oneer days when the pony express was the ultimate in speed. . |
