Show ! TENNIS MEET TO OPEN SOON SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 13 Competition will open Saturday at the Salt Lake Tennis club courts for the Intermountain tennis championships. The race will be wide open this year, inasmuch as defending champions cham-pions from last year will not be on hand. Nelson Mclninch, Kansas Kan-sas City, won the singles in 1934, and Leonard Patterson, Los Angeles, An-geles, and Gerald Phipps, Denver, paired to take the doubles. Other champions are: Edna Fuller, Denver, women's singles; Edna Fuller and Mrs. W. D. Jensen, Jen-sen, women's doubles Edith Von Hadeln, Salt Lake City, and Larry Lar-ry Myers, Los Angeles, mixed : doubles. j Utah will be represented by a , powerful group, including Fred and Don Dixon from Provo; Dave ' Freed, Mel Gallacher, Ross Sut- j ton and Grant Evans, Salt Lake 1 City. Denver is reported to be sending send-ing a strong aggregation, including includ-ing Vernon John, Al Young, Sam Milsctein and Tom Harper. Junior and boys events are being be-ing held this year. |
