Show sonm7 NFrVS The Second Ward Gleaner Girls held their meeting Tuesday evening even-ing at the home of Harriet Miner in the form of a shower honoring Fay Nelson who is to be married in the near future. Miss Floss Harmer reviewed the book, "Mary Peters." Light refreshments were served and many beautiful gifts were received by the guest of honor. The seagull class of the First ward, under the direction of Mrs. John Hardy, hiked to Sumsion's Grove for a picnic lunch Wednesday. Wednes-day. In attendance besides their leader were Merle Madsen, Joyce Hardy, Dora Hiatt, Ranee Davis; Carol Cherrington, Norma Fullmer, Fullm-er, Dorothy Long, Luella Huntington, Hunting-ton, and Glenna Palfreyman. Mrs. Susa Bird recently returned from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Harold Harward and family at Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Harward accompanied her home for a several sev-eral days' visit with friends and relatives here. Mrs. H. J. Maiben and sons Jack and Ted of Montebello, Cal.. have spent the past two weeks with Mrs. Maiben's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dell Conover in this city. Miss Ida Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Hoffman of this city, is attending summer school at Camp Miniwanca, Shelby, Shel-by, Mich., after completing her school work there, she will visit relatives and friends at Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. D. R. Welch is attending Bernhard Ulmann, Pacific Coast and Inter-mountain class for knitting knit-ting teachers at San Francisco Calif. Before returning she plans to attend the exposition at San Diego. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ford and daughter of Murray spent the week-end with Mrs. Ford's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Sol Clyde. They enjoyed an outing at Balsam Park Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Conover have recently returned from a vacation trip to Yellowstone National park. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Dyches of Provo. Miss Alice Driggs, Miss Earl-ynne Earl-ynne Capson and Antone Olsen of Salt Lake City were week-end guests of Ned Childs in this city. ; Mr. and Mrs.. Elaine Meakin and four children of Salt Lake City, and Bob Morrell of Pocatello, Ida., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Wingate, Monday. Mra. Christa Lee and Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and two sons, spent the week-end at Thompson and Greenrover, where Mr. Sumsion is completing a road-oiling job. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Menden-hall Menden-hall of Salt Lake City were guests of Mr. Meiidenhall's parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall Sunday. Sun-day. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Gardner and son spent Monday with friends in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Mary Oakes and two sons are spending a two-weeks vacation vaca-tion with friends at LaCelle, near Montecillo, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Simpson of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Grace Stubbs and son of Ogden are visiting vis-iting their parents, Mr. and Mrs I Eastham Clegg, this week. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. McKenzie accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Lawrence and family of Salt Lake City, have spent the past two-weeks with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. McKenzie and family at Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Albert Denny and children spent a few days of the past week at Vivian park, Provo canyon, where she attended the annual reunion of the Vincent family. Miss Naomi Deal of Los Angeles, Ange-les, Calif., formerly of this city, is spending a few days with relatives rela-tives and friends here. Mrs. Emma Long and children of this city, spent the past several days with relatives and friends in Salt Lake City. She was accompanied accom-panied home Monday by her sister, sis-ter, Mrs. S. N. Daniels and children chil-dren of Louisville, Ky. She will return this fall to enter the Brig-hom Brig-hom Young university to complete a course in physical education. Mrs. Ella Miner spent the fore part of the week in Salt Lake City, visiting her daughter, Miss Marian Miner who is attending business college there. Bishop Whilliam Winn of Smith-field Smith-field is visiting his sister Mrs. Andrew An-drew Pierce, and family here. The busy Seven 4-H club were entertained at the home of their leader, Miss Helen Reynolds. A surprise lunch was served at the close of the meeting by the hostess. hos-tess. In attendance were Phylis Miner, Ranee Spencer, Clea Mer-riott, Mer-riott, and Mrs, Arnold Lee, the latter being a special guest. Mrs. Sam Dallin, assisted by1, Mrs. John Blanchard and Mrs. John Hardy, entertained at a miscellaneous mis-cellaneous shower at her home Saturday night, for her daughter, Virginia, who will be married this month. Games and a dainty lunch were enjoyed, and the honor guest was the recepient of many lovely bridal gifts from the large number num-ber of friends and relatives present. pres-ent. The Novelty Circle, social unft of the high school, held their annual an-nual meeting Wednesday night ta the home of Miss Ruth Baxter. Bax-ter. The group planned the social calendar for the year, after which a dainty lunch was served. In attendance at-tendance were Miss Venice Whiting, Whit-ing, Miss Theora Tuttle, Miss I Beth Mendenhall, Miss LaRee j West, Miss Ruth Baxter, Miss j Maxine Wilkins, Miss Delia Baxter, Bax-ter, Miss Gene Neil, and Miss Dorothy Evans. The social calendar cal-endar arranged by the girls for the year includes a bicycle party, forewell for old members, initiation initia-tion and new member parties, semi-formal, banquets, and holiday holi-day socials. Andrew Pierce has returned to his home here, following nine weeks stay in Smitrificld, where he constructed a home for his daughter, Mrs. Wendall Perkins and family. Members of the Fircmens' auxiliary aux-iliary met at the Fire hall, Monday Mon-day night. Chorus practice was held and the ladies also enjoyed cards and social chat. Mrs. Lillie Wheeler and Mrs. Mary Weight were hostesses and a dainty lunch was served at the close of the meeting. In attendance were Mrs. Sarah Brown, Mrs. Lula Peery, Mrs. Eva Hanson, Mrs. Emma Miner, Mrs. Mabel Brown, Mrs. i Mary Friel, Mrs. Marjorie Bird, j Mrs. Faye S nelson, Mrs. Philda Finley and Mrs. Floss Phillips, the latter two being guests. |
