The Third ward held their annual an-nual reunion in the Fourth ward amusement hall Friday night. A program, dancing and lunch featured feat-ured the occasion with an especially espec-ially large crowd of ward mem-fcprs mem-fcprs and special guests in nttend- ance- .1 .!.:2B City and Mrs. Bell Ralicgh of Logan Lo-gan spent the past few days in Springviilf? due to the serious illness ill-ness of their mother, Mrs. Rho-da Rho-da Beardall. The Ladies' Literary club wil' hold their annual Christmas party Thursday, December 17, at the home of Mrs. Helen Crandall. All members are urged to be present at 7 :30 o'clock. Outstanding among the social events of the past week was the joint program given by the Daughters Daugh-ters of Pioneers at Public hall, Thursday afternoon. Pioneer residents resi-dents over 70 years of age were special guests. The meeting was under the direction of Lieutenant Bertha RothweU and began with community Singing, followed by prayer by the chaplain Myrtle Harrison. A ladies' chorus com-, posed of ladies from both camps j gave a number and Mrs. Ella Reynolds led in a silent tribute to camp members who had passed Under the direction of President Presi-dent Inez Chader, the Legion auxiliary aux-iliary held their regular monthly meeting Wednesday evening, at Memorial hall. The program featured fea-tured a talk on, "Rehabilitation" by Chairman Vilate Reynolds; a Christmas stoiy by Mrs. Floss Phillips; piano solo, Miss Elaine Cherrington; violin solos, Stanford M Kin, accompanied by his father, Wallace Martin; a vocal duet, Misses La Von Hone and Melba Merriott, accompanied by Mrs. Mary Whitney. A proposition of contributing to a project to provide pro-vide a rest room for girls at the high school was discussed and the organization members voted in favor of the movement. President Presi-dent Chader abo gave reports on the success of the recent card party sponsored by the auxiliary and of the banquet served to the contractors here. It was also said that six Thanksgiving baskets were distributed to needy veterans fa milies in the community. Mrs. Chader explained the work of the auxiliary in assisting with! child welfare work among veteran's vet-eran's families of this community, stating that with the assistance of the Legion, two tonsil operations had been performed and three pairs of glasses purchased for children whose parents were unable un-able to provide the necessary medical medi-cal attention. The meeting was concluded with serving of refreshments re-freshments under the direction of Mrs. W. A. McKcnzie, Miss Helen Reynolds, and Mrs. Thelma Cherrington. Following the meeting meet-ing cards were featured, with high score for the game being awarded to Mrs. Cleor.da Miner. j Mrs. Ella Gatherum of Salt Lake away since the last conjoint meet-i meet-i ing. Those thus honored were the late Mrs. Julia Packard, Mrs Phoebe Singleton, Mrs. Delia Carter, Car-ter, Mrs. Mary Westwood and Mrs. Martha Thorn. Captain Lela Sumsion of the Springville camp, paid tribute to the living pioneers and gave a place of honor for each. Mrs. Ellen Crandall gave a lesson on "Pioneer Kindness," after which Ralph B. Weight and Will Parry gave cornet solos, accompanied by Mrs. Bell Thomas. Mrs. Mary Finley continued the lesson on, "United Order." Mrs. Mary Weight led in singing a song outlined by the state camp. In honor of Mrs. Louisa Bulklcy who was eighty-two eighty-two years old Thursday and Mrs. Frank J. Bringhurst who was seventy sev-enty one Friday, the camps joined in singing, "Happy Birthday tc You." Carol Clyde entertained with a reading. Refreshments were served at the close of the enter-tainmnt enter-tainmnt to nearly a hundred members and guests. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Mae Bird, Mrs. Susie Boyer, Mrs. Lola Weight, Mrs. Jeannette Ullock, Mrs. Ella Miner, Mrs. Sadie Beard-all, Beard-all, Mrs. Effic Boyer, Mrs. Dora Rowland, Mrs. Nell Diamond, Mrs. Carrie Parry, Mrs. A. C. Bird. The Junior class of the high school sponsored a dancing matinee mati-nee at the high school auditorium Friday afternoon, to raise funds for their art queen. The affair was a success financially and socially. so-cially. Mr. and Mrs. Houston Duff and two sons, and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. . Stalnaker of Rupert. Idaho, have returned to their homes after a few days visit with the latter's daughter, Mrs. Bill Hanson and family in this city. Mrs. Dolly Smith was hostess to members of the Ave Delma club at her home Wednesday evening. eve-ning. A nicely arranged luncheon was served by the hostesses at |
