Show SOCIETY NEVS Mrs. Afton Palfreyman was hostess to members of the Jov-ality Jov-ality club at her home Friday night. Bridge was the diversion with high score prize for members awarded to Mrs. Clara Childs and to Mrs. Lawrence Wheeler, a guest. Others in attendance were Mrs. Mark Brown, Mrs. Audrey Jensen, Mrs. Mabel Simkins, Mrs. Sarabell Stewart, Mrs. Ann Stewart, Stew-art, Mrs. Carrie Tripp, Mrs. Luell Best, Mrs. Clara Childs, Mrs. Mary Bird, Mrs. Lucille Packard, and Mrs. Louise Brown. The Jovality club held the preceding pre-ceding meeting at the home of Mrs. Clara Childs. An enjoyable time was spent with cards following follow-ing a tasty lunch served by the hostess. Mrs. Carrie Tripp was awarded high score favor for the , games during the evening foi, members and Mrs. Penroid toi the guests. The guests that evening eve-ning included Mrs. Mark Cornaby of Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Keller Penroid of this city. The next club meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Lucille Packard, January 8. The Mother's Study club will i hold their annual Christmas party ' Thursday night, beginning at 7 p. m., at the home of Mrs. Bell Childs. All members are urged to be present at 8 o'clock. The Third ward Relief society sponsored an enjoyable Christmas party Tuesday afternoon at the ward hall. The affair was also in honor of Mrs. Mattie Brimhall who is leaving to make her home in Provo. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree with Santa Claus was the center of attraction. A nicely arranged program was ,.,1'ven with readings by Mrs. Gertrude Gert-rude Clements; a story, Mrs. Pearl Smith; a violin solo, Jimmic Brailsford; readings, Helen Bray; vocal duet, Jackie and Louise Evans, accompanied by Dorothy Evans; vocal duet, Misses LaVern None and Melba Mariott. Mrs. La Vern Beardall will be hostess to members of the Busy Finger club at her home Thursday evening. All members are urged to be present. An enjoyable social of the week was given Tuesday afternoon when the Fourth ward Relief society entertained in the form of a farewell fare-well party for Mrs. Hazel Robertson Robert-son who will leave with her husband, hus-band, next month for the Japanese mission at Honolulu. Nearly a hundred members and guests were in attendance. An especially enjoyable en-joyable program consisted of a Christmas story, by Mrs. Ada B. Straw; a going away tribute and story, by Mrs. Ella Reynolds; vocal vo-cal solo, Mrs. Lela Packard; piano , solo, Mrs. Mary Bird; reading. Miss Bray; selection from the high school chorus; vocal solos, Scott ' Thorn. In behalf of the Relief society ladies, a five-year diary was presented to Mrs. Robertsor with a suggestion that she fill it and upon her return from the mission, read it to the members. Mrs. Robertson expressed her thanks and appreciation to the organization. At the conclusion of the meeting which was under the direction of the presidency. : refreshments were served. A meeting of the Mother's Study club was held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Harold Alleman. The program featured a talk on "The Master," by Joseph Olsen of the seminary, which was especially enjoyable. Miss Melpha Binks also entertained with a piano solo; Misses Betty Jean and Margaret Alleman, poems; Mrs. Zelda Ryan, Ry-an, quotations from the Bible. The meeting was concluded with lunch An interesting meeting of the Alpha Beta club was held Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. M. R. Straw, the general theme being "Material Home." Papers were given during the afternoon on "Modernization Without Destruction," Destruc-tion," and "New Style of Future Homes," by Mrs. David Reese of Provo and Mrs. Emil Ostlund, respectively. re-spectively. The Home Culture club will hold their annual Christmas party Friday Fri-day evening, Dec. 18, at the home of Mrs. C. F. Packard. Mrs. i Packard will be assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Condie. Members are asked to be present at 7 p. m., as luncheon will precede pre-cede the evening's program. The S. T. club's annual Christmas Christ-mas party is scheduled for Dec. 17, at the home of Mrs. Thelma Clark. All members are urged to be present.
