HANSEN Dr. Robinson, at one time president presi-dent of the Anti-Cigarette League 1 of America, tells the following i story "God permitted an never-to-be forgotten incident to come into my life, which made, me declare war on the cigarette. A poor little lit-tle woman came into my office, and asked if I could see her boy. 1 told her to bring him in. Two men then entered with, a wild-eyed, pale-faced, haggard-looking youth, seventeen years of age. He was examined, and I was compelled to inform the old mother that we could give her no hopes, and the only thing to do was to send him to the insane asylum. She broke (iuwn and wept as though her heart would break. "I asked her what had brought this terrible tragedy upon her son. She said: 'O, it was cigarettes. He smoked more and more until he smoked fifty a day, and then his mind gave way.' |
