Show LIGHTING OF GROUNDS TO BE INSTALLED Greater Interest In Local Fair Is Aim of Publicity Pub-licity Campaign Progress in all phases of preparation for the Utah county fair September 16-18 was reported by committee heads during a meeting of the fair board Monday afternoon. after-noon. Manager L. L. Bunnell announced an-nounced that a crew would go to work this week cleaning the fair grounds and repairing the main buildings. Booths and fruit stands will be repaired, he said, and painting done in some places. A. section of display cases will' be encased with glass, to' be used for various exhibits of the hobby department handicraft, creative, art, collections, etc. Night DlumiJiation For the first time in history, the fair grounds will be illuminat ed by flood lightu. Sixty-fooit poles will be set up within the next ten days, and wiring at tached. Lighting fixtures will be rented from Payson and Spanish Fork. Total cost of the lighting will be ?800. Secretary Milton Harrison reported. By renting fixtures, an additional $300 may be saved, he said. It is expected that larger crowds will attend the evening performances than in the day time. County Agent S. R. Boswell vVho has been contacting livestock men for the past week, said fine 3xhi'bits, both for b2ef and dairy cattle, were in prospect. "The farmers and livestock men are very enthusiastic," he said, "and we will have many exhibitors this year we've never had before." Fruit and vegetable exhibitors ire already planning displays, reported re-ported Mr. Bunnell. Farmers are not only going out for prizes but for recognition as well, he said. Twenty-five hundred dollars in premiums will be given this year. Advertising for the fair will be sent out to five counties this week, acording to Mr. Harrison. Chief counties to be advertised in are Utah, Wasatch, Juab, Sanpete and Carton. Color cards, radio, bill-'board bill-'board and newspaper are among the types of advertising to be used. Approximately 20,000 people are ! expected to attend the fair, Mr. Harrison predicts. |
