Springville schiools will open Monday at 9 o'clock, according to announcement of school principals. A general assembly will be held at the high school at 9 a. m when instructions on registration of students will be given. It is important that all be there ut that time. Senior students will be required to pay a fee of $2.50 which includes in-cludes activity cards, etc. The junior high school student's fee will be $1.50. Senior students who register for music, either vocal or instrumental, will be required re-quired to pay an additional fee of 50 cents. There will be six new instructors in the high scnool faculty this year, Principal w. W. Brockbank said. They are Walter Peterson, who will have charge of the instrumental in-strumental music at the school; Carl Nelson, who will supervise vocal instruction; Miss iiernice Clark, in charge of the dramatic art and speech work; Miss Shirt-lift Shirt-lift of Salt Lake City, instructor in domesctic art and English; Arthur Hughes, coach, Miss Fery'i Nielson, clerk, and Ray Colton in the seminary. Each of these teachers teach-ers come to the school with fine recommendations and are looking forward to a successful year. Remodeling of the old high school building making larger class rooms on the ground and second floor is expected to go forward for-ward duriiig the eariy part of the school year. Rooms on these lloors .therefore will not be used at the opening of school but all art worl instrumental and vocal music ant) dramatic art classes will convene ot the new art building build-ing in the' rooms specially planned for the worK. A plan is also underway now to separate the junior and senior high school departments when the remodeling of the old building is completed. Contemplating this change, Grant Gardner will have supervision over the junior high school work this year, acting in a capacity of assistant to Principal Prin-cipal Brockbank. The elementary schools have received their assignments as follows: fol-lows: Lincoln school, Victor Frandsen, principal, Wendell Neil-son, Neil-son, Hannah Rowland, Mattie Davis, Stella Carson, Lucy Roy-lance; Roy-lance; Grant school Paul Walker, principal; Myrtle Childs; Lola b! White, Grace Parker, Ada Smith, Lillian Russell; Jefferson Howard How-ard Salisbury, principal Stanley Peterson, Melba Sumsion, Pricella Nielson, Rea Straw and Minerva Johnson. The schools are all undergoing a thorough cleaning this week in preparation for the opening. A new heating plant has been installed in-stalled in the high school and minor improvements including painting will be completed at each of the schools. The school calendar for the year is as follows: August 30, school opens; September 6, Labor day, no school; October 12, Columbus Colum-bus day'; October 15 to 25, beet vacation; November 7 to 13, American Am-erican education week; Nov- 11, Armistice day; November 25 to 28, Thanksgiving recess; Dec. 23 to January 3, Christmas vacation; January 14, first semester ends; February 12, Lincoln's birthday; February 22 Washington's 'birthday; 'birth-day; May 20 school closes. |
