Show FINE PROGRAMS FEATURE STAKE CONFERENCE A. discussion of youths' prob-' lems today featured the M.I.A. departmental meetings, while the Relief Society took up various phases of the coming year's work at conventions of these two organizations held in connection with quarterly conference here Saturday and Sunday. The initial meeting was held under the direction di-rection of the Relief Society, Saturday afternoon. Representing the general boards of the two organizations were: Mrs. Vivian R. McConkie of the Relief Society; Arthur Peterson, Mrs. Grace C. Neslen, Mrs. Ethel Anderson and D. Eugene Hammond Ham-mond of the M. I. A. The visiting visit-ing officers presided at the several sev-eral departmental meetings and were the principal speakers at the Sunday morning, afternoon and evening sessions. During the conference Mrs. Hannah B. Mendenhall was released re-leased as president of the stake Relief Society board with a vote of thanks. Sustained to take her place was Mrs. Hannah Clyde, with Mrs. Prudence Palfreyman and Mrs. Vern Crandall, counselors. coun-selors. Mrs. Retta Harmer was retained as secretary. The conference meetings featured fea-tured large groups of M. I. A. and Relief Society workers both in the department and general sessions. The visiting officers complimented the stake on the work done and the spirit of the leaders. Music during the afternoon meeting was given by the Fourth ward choir under the direction of Carl Nelson. Freeman Bird, Miss Helen Palfreyman and Mrs. Nelson also gave a vocal trio. Miss lone Averett was accompanist. accom-panist. The conference concluded.. with "a ' service Sunday night, under the direction of the M. I. A., with G. Lowry Anderson, superintendent super-intendent in charge. President J. Emmett Bird had the general sessions in charge. |
