Show KIWANIS HOLD RAILROAD MEET The competition and unfavorable unfavor-able conditions under which western west-ern railroads have operated the past few years, were explained by W. J. O'Neal, general superintendent superin-tendent of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad company, compa-ny, mechanical department, at the Kiwanis meeting, Thursday night. The meeting was held in observance of "Western railroad week." D. G. Cunningham, master me-I me-I chanic for the Denver and Rio ! Grand Western railroad, also ; spoke on the amount of taxes paid : annually by the railroad compa- 1 nies, in comparison to motor ve- ; hicle conveyances. He described in detail the new air-conditioned 1 equipment recently installed by railroad systems, declaring that ! these new and comfortable accom- -odations were the beginning of a . new era in railroad operation. President Charles Boyer an- announced the annual ladies night ' outing, to be held at Balsam park, on June 27 with Herald Christen- sen, general chairman. ' j |
