Show EMMA HANSON. PIONEER, DIES Mrs. Emma Hanson, 91, well known pioneer resident of this community, died Wednesday morning morn-ing at the home of a son, Fred Hanson, North Main street. Death was due to a fall the latter part of last week when she suffered a fractured hip. Mrs. Hanson's death is the third, all elderly women who have died here within two weeks of a similar injury. Mrs. Martha Thorn, 79, died here October 25 and Mrs. J. M. West-wood, West-wood, 88, the week preceding. Mrs. Hanson was born in Stock holm, Sweden, October 1, 1845. She came to Utah in 1868, her journey westward requiring three months. While on the ocean she was active in caring for the sick on the boat and had often described describ-ed her trip as a hard but pleasant one. She has lived in Springville almost continuously since coming here -and took a special pride in her little home on First West and Center street. She had enjoyed good health almost until the time of her injury. Surviving besides Mr. Hanson are another son, John Hanson, Salt Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Ross, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Emmett Utt, El Paso, Tex.; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. grand-children. The body is at A. Y. Wheeler mortuary pending word from her children. |
