Nielson and sons Guy and Alton, of Mapleton, who were visiting in Alamosa at the time of the death, also remained there for the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. George Nelson, accompanied by Mrs. Joseph Allen Al-len and Mrs. Arthur Draper of Redmond, returned recently from St. George, where they went to attend funeral services for Mr. Nelson's brother, W. A. Nelson. Miss Fern Ostler and Miss Virginia Vir-ginia Simkins returned home Tuesday from a delightful two-weeks' two-weeks' vacation trip to California. Califor-nia. They visited friends and relatives in most of the larger coast cities, spent considerable time at the fair in San Francisco, Fran-cisco, and also traveled down the coast from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, Hollywood and other places of interest in the vicinity. The Gleaner girls of the First ward were entertained at a lawn party Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Phnil OstlunU with Mrs. Warren Beardall as assiting hostess. host-ess. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sumsion and three sons have recently returned re-turned from an enjoyable vacation trip to the world's fair at San Francisco, Cal. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Melvin' Dalby at Oakland, Cal., and with "Mrs. Sumsion's sister, Mrs. Lucille Mead and family at Boulder City, Nevada. Members of the First vard elders eld-ers quorum and their partners entertained at an outing at Maple canyon on Saturday night. Ball games, an extemporaneous program pro-gram and general social together with a weiner roast and watermelon water-melon bust were enjoyed by a large crowd. The Misses Zina Johnson, Maria Johnson, Bessie Finley and Mae Finley left last Tuesday on a ten days or two weeks vacation trip to the world's fair at San Francisco, Cal., and other places of interest on the west coast. Mrs. James Stevenson had as her guests the past week, her two granddaughters, Coleen Car-Ler Car-Ler and Joan Lerwell of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Grover Clyde and daughters of Milwaukee, Wis., who have spent several weeks in Spring ville with Mrs. Clyde's mother, Mrs. Jennie j Starr and other relatives and friends, planned to leave for their home . this week. One of their daughters, Virginia, will remain here and later plans to attend school at the U. S- A. C, Logan. Miss Norma Jean Lee is spending spend-ing a few days' vacation with relatives and friends in provo. Miss Sally' Heath " of Woods Cross, was a guest the past few days at the home of Mr. and I Mis. David H. Heath (nee Miss i Lucille Sanford). Russell Laney, accompanied by Matt C-lsen, Harold Thorn and Bob Cranmer, spent several days of the past week on a vacation trip to Yellowstone national park. They also visited the Jackson Lake country. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alleman of this city, announce the marriage mar-riage of their daughter, La Rae, to Jack Davies. son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Davies of Pro-' vo, which took place Sunday, August , at Richfield. Miss Alleman Alle-man is o. graduate of the Spring-ville Spring-ville high school and has attended attend-ed the Brigham Young university the past four years, where she was affiliated with the O. S. Social So-cial unit. In honor of the young couple, a number of social events are planned for the near future. The Second Ward Gleaner girls spent a delightful evening at the home of Mrs. Marian Wright's mother's home. A re-view of the book, "Eathen Frome," was given in a pleasing manner by Mrs. Jessie J. Dalton and vocal selections selec-tions by Mrs. Evelyn M. Boyer with Mrs. Betty Sumsion, accompanist, accom-panist, were also enjoyed. ' Mrs. Taylor Burt entertained a delightful party for her little son, Rodney, on the occasion of his fifth birthday, Saturday. Approximately 25 relatives and friends were in attendance. Mrs. D. A. Crandall spent the past week with her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Thorstesen and other relatives in Og'den. Mrs. Thorstesen Thors-tesen accompanied her mother on the return and remained over the week end with her parents here. Miss Helen Alleman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alleman is expected home this week from Madsen, Wis., ( where she has ueen attending school at the Mr. and ' Mrs. Newell Weight and Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight of this city, spent two days of the past week at Willow Creek in Strawberry Valley. Lajolie club members and their partners spent a delightful day Sunday with a hike to Timpan-ogos Timpan-ogos Cave, followed by a delicious delici-ous chicken dinner. Included in the group were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Boyer, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Burt, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Jones of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Straw, Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorpe enjoyed a delicious canyon supper sup-per at Birches camp Tuesday night. Mathew Carl Fred Erickson of Spanish Fork and Myrtle Mad-sen Mad-sen of this city, were issued a license to wed at the county court house, Provo. Max Diamond of this city and Betty Jean Huntington of Spanish Span-ish Fork, were issued a license to wed at the county court house Monday. The First Ward Relief Society held an interesting meeting in the foim ot" a picnic luncheon and program at the city park Tuesday afternoon. A feature of the program pro-gram was a play review by Sara Marie Binks. Music was given by the Relief Society quartet, Louise Clyde and Miss Hatfield. |
