Show SOCIETY NEVSI of the season was given in the form of a banquet for the Fourth ward "M" Men by their leader, R. W. Bradford at his home last Wednesday night. The banquet was served at one long table with covers laid for about thirty class members and guests. The new-ward new-ward bishopric, Leo Robertson, Solon S. Wood and Howard G. Salisbury, were special guests in addition'to Frank Salisbury, M.I.A. president and counselors, Kenneth Condie and Rapheal Palfreyman and H. W. Weight, stake supervisor. super-visor. The party was given to acquaint various members of the class, and it is planned to hold similar entertainments throughout the year. Wallace Patrick acted as toasunaster during the banquet program and short talks and toasts were given by the special guests. colors and tavois in corresponding correspond-ing colors also added to the effective ef-fective decorations. Prizes for the evening's games went to Mrs. Ora Rowland and Mrs. Harold Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. Other guests in attendance attend-ance included, Mrs. Charles Boyer, Mrs. Arthur Finley, Mrs. Lee Sumsion, Mrs. Floss Phillips, Mrs. Mary Clegg, Mrs. Emil Ostlund Mrs. E. V. Crandall, Mrs. Blanch Beal, Mrs. Chester Jenkins and Mrs. Ella Crandall. Literary club members will be entertained at the home of Mrs, Lela Packard Wednesday evening, October 23. It will be the annual guest day program and Mrs. Mercedes Mer-cedes will be assisting hostess. Members of the Fourth ward Gleaner girls class were delightfully delight-fully entertained at a party at the home of Miss Naomi May-cock, May-cock, last Tuesday evening. Games and a lunch were enjoyed. Jeune Mere club members were delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. Florence Nelson last Wednesday afternoon. The time was delightfully spent sewing and a tasty luncheon was served by the hostess. In attendance at the party were, Mrs. True Clyde, Mrs. Maurine Haymond, Mrs. Lucille Lu-cille Hughes, Mrs. Mabel Childs Mrs. Fay Haymond, Mrs. Naomi Thorn, Mrs, Lucille Childs, Mrs. Mabel Wright, Mrs. Elaine Par-1 cell of Provo, Ms. Braby of Salt Lake City, the latter being a guest. Members of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers of Camp Aaron-Johnson Aaron-Johnson were delightfully entertained enter-tained Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Chester Hutchings, with Mrs. Emily Crandall, Mrs. Sadie Beardall, Mrs. Milessa Thompson, Mrs. Blanche Hales assisting as-sisting hostesses. A silent tribute to Mrs. Ellen K. Wheeler and Mrs. Nora J. Clyde who have passed away since the last regular meeting meet-ing of the camp, led by Mrs. Percinda Oakley. Piano dueU were given by Mrs. Owen Rowe and Mrs. Blanche Hales; vocal solos, by Mrs. Delmar Dickson and her daughter, Diane Dickson; violin selections by Miss Phylis Smart; piano solos, ' Beth Mendenhall; Violin solos Russell Palfreyman. The lesson was given by Mrs. Margaret Miner who also read a paper on Flower or Pioneers. At the conclusion of the meeting tasty refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. J. M. Brown, captain was in charge of the meeting. A number of Springville ladies were in Provo Saturday afternoon to attend the card party given by the Eastern Star ladies orgniza-tion. orgniza-tion. Members of the S. T. club were entertained at the home of Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Thursday night. Progressive auction bridge was the feature of entertainment with prizes for the games being won by Mrs. Lee Sumsion and Mrs. Ora Rowland. At the conclusion of the party a dainty luncheon was served by the hostess to twelve club members. mem-bers. Each small table was centered cen-tered with Hallowe'en motifs and Hallowe'en colors and decorations were carried out during luncheon and in room decorations. ' Mr. J. Frank Bringhurst of this city, returned to her home Thursday Thurs-day after three months visit with her son, Dr. Fred Bringhurst and family at Alhambra, Calif., and with another son Joseph Bringhurst Bring-hurst and family at Monterey Park, Calif. She came especially on account of the illness of her grandson William Bringhurst, who died shortly after her arrival here. Mrs. Mary Metcalf of this city left the past week for several months visit with her son John L. Metcalf and family at Alton, Wyo. Mr. Metcalf is superintendent of the schools. Members of the Alpha Beta club are entertaining at their annual Hallowe'en party Saturday, Satur-day, October 26, at Memorial hall. All desiring to attend are urged to make reservations with the various members of the club. Tick--gets also may be bought at the door. Mrs. Bill Hanson entertained at a delightful bridge luncheoon at her home here Wednesday night. The tables were beautifully decorated dec-orated with Hallowe'en motifs and |
