Show served her eighty-second birthday Wednesday. She was the recipient re-cipient of many good wishes and other felicitations from her many friends and relatives during the day. Mrs. Hatfield was born in Manti, but has spent the greater part of her life here. She married William Hatfield in Salt Lake City, March 14, 1870. The couple celebrated cele-brated their golden wedding anniversary anni-versary in 1930 and Mr. Hatfield died the following year. Mrs. Hatfield Hat-field is remembered for her beautiful beauti-ful handiwork many pieces of .which have been displayed in community com-munity fairs and elsewhere.- She has four children. The Seagollia class of the Third ward, under the direction of Dona Snell entertained their mothers at a social at the ward hall, Wednesday Wed-nesday night. Approximately 25 class members and guests were in attendance and a delightful time was spent by all. A special feature fea-ture of the party was the presentation presen-tation of the play, "The Magic Mesh." Refreshments were served m conclusion. Complimentary to John R. Kindred Kin-dred whose birthday was Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd McPherson of this city entertained at a dinner at their home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Kindred, and daughter Beth, Mrs. Geneva Miller of this city and Mr. arid Mrs. M S Strcbel of Provo. Miss Beth Loynds also was honor guest at a shower given by a number of friends at Thistle, Thursday night. Miss Loynds resigned re-signed her position as teacher in the schools there, to be married. A program, games and lunch featured fea-tured the party and the guest of honor received a lovely assortment of wedding gifts. Lunch concluded the entertainment. A shower was given Friday evening eve-ning for Mrs. Richard Nicholls, formerly Miss Ada Lowe, at the home of her. parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Lowe. A tasty lunch was served by Mrs. Sarah Lowe, Mrs. Glenn Lowe, Mrs. C. O. Lowe and Mrs. John Lowe, sisters-in-law of the bride. Guests included friends and relatives. The young couple left Saturday morning to make their home at Randolph, Utah.. Sterling Noakes left recently to visit his sister Thelma at Oakland, Oak-land, Calif. Sterling is doing some painting and also has part time work in that city. J. Wilkes Streeper, a former resident of this city, will return to his home in Cherry Port, Alberta, Al-berta, Canada, soon, from Fort Harrison, Mont., where he has been confined in a hospital the past year, following an operation to restore re-store tho sight of his eye, according accord-ing to word received here. The operation was reported successful, success-ful, and Mr. Streeper is reported well on the road to recovery. Alpha Beta club plans a luncheon lunch-eon to be given in the Memorial hall at 2:30 Saturday afternoon, October 26. The public is invited. Tickets will be sold. Mrs. Sarah Loynds of this city announces the marriage of her daughter Beth, to Dean Prothero, son of Jesse Prothero of Provo, which took place Wednesday, in Salt Lake City. Following the ceremony, the couple were entertained enter-tained at a wedding supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Brown at'.Copperton. Members of the two immediate families were guests. The couple left shortly after the entertainment, on a wedding trip to California, where they will spend some time at the San Diego exposition. I A number of friends delightfully entertained at a surprise party for O. C. Lowe, at his home Friday evening, the occasion being his birthday. Mrs. Shirley Smith of Rigby, Idaho, has returned to her home after spending several weeks as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davis. Mrs. Smith was formerly Miss Bernice Rolfe of this city. Mrs. Roy Blanchard and little daughter, Mary Lou, have returned return-ed to their home in Denver, Colo. Members of the N. I. P. club will meet at the home of Mrs. Bill Hanson Friday night. All members mem-bers are urged to be present. The club held their last meeting at the home of Mrs. Fred Brown, in Provo. In honor of Charles Conover, Jr., who left Monday for the missionary mission-ary school in Salt Lake City, prior to departing for a mission to the southern states, Mrs. Mary Z. Hatfield Hat-field and her daughter Mrs. Flora Maiben, entertained at a social at the former's home Thursday night. Mr. Conover will represent the Duncon L. jj. S. ward of Arizona, and will leave for his field ot labor, October 31. His sister left a year ago on a mission and is now laboring in California. Miss Bernice Tipton of this city entertained a number of friends at a bridge party at her home, Friday Fri-day night. Prizes for the evening's eve-ning's games went to Miss Fern Bate and Miss Ida Packard. Others in attendance were Mrs. Coe Dur-rnt, Dur-rnt, Miss Helen Boyer. Miss Dona Salisbury, Miss Ercil Clark, Miss Aleen McKenzie, Miss Margaret Hadley. A tasty and attractive lunch was also an enjoyable feature fea-ture of the party, being served at small tables with a pretty color scheme of pink and green predominating. pre-dominating. Members of the Home Culture club will be entertained at the home of Mrs. Harold Christensen Friday afternoon. The program will feature a paper by Mrs. G. L. Barron on "Chaucer and Elizabethan Eliza-bethan Literature." Berne Kindred of Tooele spent the past week end with his parents par-ents Mr. and Mrs. John R. Kindred Kin-dred and other relatives here. Gilbert E. Pulsipher was recently recent-ly sustained president of the Denver Den-ver branch of the L. D. S. church, according to word received here. His counselors are Duard Hardy, formerly of Bountiful and Carl Prior, formerly of Spanish Fork. Mrs. Rhoda Ann Hatfield, well known resident of this city, ob- Misses Leona and Marie Clegg returned to their home here after several weeks visit with their sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Leslie Simpson and husband hus-band at Oakland, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davis have left for a short visit at Rigby, Idaho, as guests of Mrs. Shirley Smith. Mrs. Davis was formerly Miss Rose Lowe of this city. Mrs. Annie Simpson of Salt Lake City spent several days of the past week with relatives and friends in Springville. Members of the Entre Nous club were delightfully entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Thorpe, Friday night. Progressive cards featured the entertainment with prizes being won by Mr. and Mrs. Warren Beardall. A dainty luncheon was served during' the evening and an attractive color scheme suggestive of Hallowe'en was carried out in room and tabic decorations. Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Bradford were special guests and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bird were welcomed wel-comed into the club as new members. mem-bers. Complimentary to Miss Beth Loynds who was wed this week, Miss Meiiyn Hall, Miss Elsie Mc-Curdy, Mc-Curdy, and Mrs. Alice Brown of Copperton entertained at a shower at the Loynds home, Friday night. Approximately 35 relatives and friends attended the party and spent an enjoyable tame wlf.h games and a program. Miss Hannah Han-nah Rowland entertained with vocal solos, during the evening.
