Show SOCIETY HEWS Mrs. Jen Allen was hostess to members of her club at her home Friday evening. A dainty lunch was .served first and later cards featured the entertainment. Frizes for the games went to Mrs. LaRee Warren and Mrs. Iris Dibble. The hostess also was presented with a hostess gift. Those in attendance at-tendance were Mrs. Pearl Peterson Peter-son who was elected president of the club during the evening; Mrs. Virginia dinger, elected reporter; Mrs. Merle Diamond, Mrs. LaRee V;nren, Mrs. Ivy Snow, Mrs. Iris Dibble and hostess. Robert Cranmer, Russell Laney, Matt Olscn, Joe Salisbury and Bert Cherrington left early Thursday Thurs-day morning for South Bend, Ind., where they will see the Notre Dame and Southern California rootlm 11 game. They planned to drive five new cars on their return ! trip. ' Members of the home Culture club held their regular bi-monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. How- ard Thorpe, with Mrs. D. B. Welch, president, in charge. Mrs. Warren Beardall gave the program, pro-gram, the subject of which was, "Our Latin American Countries." A special feature of the afternoon was the observance of the birthday birth-day of Mrs. Maurice Bird, a member. mem-ber. She was presented with a beautifully decorated and lighted cake which was cut and served to the group together with a delicious lunch. Members and guests in a ttendance at the meeting were : Mrs. W. Ed-dington, Ed-dington, Mrs. C. E. Eggertsen, Mrs. B. M. Mendenhall, Mrs. C. F. Packard, Mrs. G. B. Orton, Mrs. E. F. Pern am, Mrs. Warren Beardall, Bear-dall, Mrs. D. B. Welch, Mrs. Maurfice Anderson, Mrs. Vesta Ahlandcr of Los Angeles, Calif., the latter two being guests. Announcement is made of the marriage of Mrs. Pearl Dowdle of this city and Joseph David West of Spanish Fork which took place on Friday, November 24, in the Salt Lake temple. The couple will reside in Spanish Fork. ' In honor of Mrs. J. D. West a number of neighbors entertained at a personal shower at her home on Monday night. A program and games were enjoyed and in conclusion con-clusion a dainty lunch was served. Those in attendance were: Mrs. May Bird, Mrs. Snova Blanchard, Mrs. Ida Haycock, Mrs. Fred Wing, Mrs. Olive Olsen, Mrs. Josie Bird, Mrs. Emma Beardall, Mrs. Laura Clegg, Miss Maurine Man waring, Mrs. Lois Clegg, Mrs.-Margaret Mrs.-Margaret Wing, Mrs. Ed Giles, Mrs. Bernice Beardall, Mrs. Kate Noakes, Mrs. Bird Beardall. Mrs. Maurine Haymond and Mrs. Marie Whiting spent a few days of the past week at St. Anthony, An-thony, Idaho, where Mr. Whiting and Mrs. Haymond are doing road contract work. Miss Faye Bearnson was hostess host-ess to members of the Current Study club at her home on Wednesday Wed-nesday night. Following a delicious delici-ous turkey dinner served by the hostess at one long table with appropriate ap-propriate decorations suggestive of Thanksgiving, Miss Helen Den-nice Den-nice of Provo gave a three-act play, which was enjoyed by all. A large group of members and guests attended. Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird and. children visited in Salt Lake City on Thanksgiving day. Among those who returned home from school for the Thanksgiving Thanks-giving holidays were Miss Mary Louise Wingate, Miss Ila Clyde, Miss Pauline Clyde, Dell Leichty, Grant Clyde from the University of Utah; Miss Bertrude Ann Welch from Westminister; Miss Nedra Beal from Nurses school, L. D. S. hospital; Mildred Parry, U. S. A. C, Logan. Mrs. Frank Blackett of May-, wood. Calif., formerly of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Westley Nelson ' md three children of Bells, Calif., lave rtNarned to their homes after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bulkley and family md other relatives and friends in md near Springville. |
