Show : MM II i illi ireijviiijyi mill I il 1 1 ml II Parade Led By Santa Clans To Feature Christmas Celebration 3 What happens when Santa Claus comes to town and distributes dis-tributes free candy and nuts to all boys and girls, will be seen Friday night, When Springvillo holds its big annual Christmas opening on Main street. To acquaint the people of this city and throughout the trading area, with what local merchants really have to offer the public and to encourage local Christmas trade, members of the chamber of commerce, with the Firemen's association and Kiwanis club, have outlined a fine program ot entertainment and treats for young and old in connection with the grand Christmas opening BYiday night. At 6 p. m., the entire Main ! street and every business concern con-cern wi.ll be illuminated with vari-colored lights hung especially especial-ly for the holiday season. A beautiful pine tree on the city park will be lighted from top to trunk, and many public buildings build-ings will take on a glittering holiday attire for the first tune that nig'ht, to remain through the holiday season. !j Immediately after the Christ- i mas lights are turned on, a jun- ;l ior parade featuring colorful ' .j floats and costumes will march , i down Main street. The parade jj will ba led by Santa Claus with ' ; ;J his free bags of candy and mils J u for the children. The high school band will also add spirit to the ! Christmas festivities. ijj1 The parade win assemble at Fourth South and Main and . j march through the main section !, of the town. Cash prizes of $h, j j $3, $1, and 50 cents are to be awarded for the best floats and i t costumes in the parade. Every j ( boy and girl in town is invited j to join in the fun. j ' After the parade, townspeople and others attending, are invit- i ed to make a tour of the busi- ; ness houses of the city and view ; the big displays of Christmas goods. Local store windows will ! be specially decorated for the occasion and some of the many , ; special Christmas offerings will j , be exhibited. That the Christmas official j j opening is becoming a popular ! j event is evidenced by the inquir- t ies already received concerning I the day and time. At least two- ; thirds of the town's population i and hundreds from nearby communities com-munities attended the opening last year and it is expected that a larger number will be in attendance at-tendance Friday because of added add-ed entertainment for old and young.
