The marriage of Miss Ruth Harmanson of this city and Herbert Her-bert C: Burrows, also of Springville Spring-ville took place the past week. The young couple will make their home in this city. A number of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. George Stone with a party at their home Wednesday, the affair being in celebration of her birthday which occurred during dur-ing the week. Cards featured the entertainment with high score prize awarded to Nolan Weight. A tasty luncheon was served. In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Nolan Weight, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Felix. Johnson one of the oldest residents of this community and well known for his participation in church and civic nffairs a birthday party was given last Friday evening by his daughter, daugh-ter, Miss Edna Johnson at their home. Mr. Johnson was eighty-six eighty-six years old. A delightful time was . spent with social chat and lunch. There were in attendance, Mr. and Mrs. Willis K. Johnson Jr., and family, Mis. Alice John- j son, Mr. and Mrs. Chester John-j son and son Lamar, and Mr. and Mrs. Martell Strong of Salt Lake City, Richard Johnson, Mr. and Mrs Albeit Hutchings and baby, Miss Melba Sumsion and George Johnson, the guest of honor and hostess. Mr Johnson is considerably younger than his years. He .spends much timo reading and is keenly Interested in current events. Miss Leola Harrington, assisted by Miss Maxine Andreason entertained enter-tained a group of friends at a party Friday in celebration of the former's birthday. A delightful time was spent with games for which prizes were given to Miss Marjorie Elders and Miss Madge Keddle. Mrs. Alice Garmer of Salt Lake City has returned to her home after spending six weeks with friends and relatives here. Crandall and her sister, Mrs Emma Cranmer, after attending general conference in Salt Lake City the past week end were guests of Mr. and Mrs C. H. Thorstensen at Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. George Barthole-mew Barthole-mew of this city wish to announce the marriage of their daughter Grace to Melvin J. Roberts, of Rupert, Ida., October 5, in the Salt Lake temple. Kindred of Idaho Falls, Ida., spent one day of the past week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs John Kindred in this city. Mr. Kindred who was recently re-cently made a member of the Idaho Falls bishopric came especially es-pecially to attend conference in Salt Lake City. Members of the Jeune Mere club were delightfully entertained Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lucille Childs. Cards featured feat-ured the. entertainment with high score guest prize awarded to Mrs. Inez Bird and club prize to Mrs. Lucille Hughes. A tasty and nicely nice-ly arranged luncheon was served early in the evening. The entertaining enter-taining rooms were . beautifully decorated with fall flowers. Those in attendance were Mrs. Eleanor Childs, Mrs. Marie Johnson, Miss Ruth Whiting, Mrs. Helen Thorpe and Mrs. Bird, guests, Mrs. Elaine Parcell of Provo, Mrs. Florence Nelson, Mrs. Mabel Wright, Mrs. True Clyde and Mrs. Hughes, members. Among the enjoyable social events of the week , was a supper given by the Firemens' auxiliary complimentary to firemen, at the fire hall last Monday evening.
