Show SOCHI NtVS Mrs. Elfie H. Bagley entertained entertain-ed Thursday afternoon for Miss Shirley Bagley whose birthday occurred oc-curred that day. Twenty little guests were entertained with games and races and prizes were given fo each. In the evening a birthday supper was served in Cafeteria style. During the afternoon, after-noon, Mrs. Bagley was assisted by her niece Tess Hines Hatfield of Los Angeles and former resident resi-dent of Springville Mrs. Hatfield came as a delegate to the D.U.P. convention in Salt Lake of last Saturday and at present is filling her second term as director of music for the Los Angeles D.U.P. Mrs Hatfield leaves Friday for her home in Los Angeles. Miss Roslyn Eddington of Springville was today selected by her class mates of Brigham Young university, as secretary-treasurer for the juniors. Already she has been named as society editor tor thn "V" News. This is Miss Ed- first meeting of the camp following follow-ing the summer vacation, will be held. Members of the Old Friends club were delightfully entertained Friday night at the home of Mrs. Ua Cranmer. Following a delicious delic-ious luncheon served early in the evening, progressive bridge was featured. Prizes for the games were awarded to Mrs. EInora Pennington, Pen-nington, a guest, and to Mrs. Leola Ewing and Mrs. Muriel Robertson, members. There were nine members mem-bers and Mrs. Arm Johnson, Mrs. Loween Palfreyman, Mrs. Delia McPhcrson and Mrs. Pennington attended as special guests. Mr. and Mrs. Milan Beardall have spent the past several days on a vacation trip to California. The retiring officers, special honor guests were Mrs. Bell Sumsion, Mrs. LaVar Anderson, Mrs. Flora Maiben, Mrs. Elsie Thyrett, Mrs. Verl Jones, Mrs. Manilla Brown and Mrs. Chader. Following a tribute by Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Sumsion was presented with the past presidents' pin. She responded with appreciation. apprecia-tion. A program of games featuring feat-uring "Monte Carlo Whist" was enjoyed with high score prizes being awarded to Mrs. Harriet Nielson of Mapleton and Mrs. Manilla Brown. A tasty luncheon concluded the entertainment. Approximately Ap-proximately 40 members attended. Mr and Mrs. Ronald Beardall spent a few days of the past week visiting interesting places in and around Denver, Colo. They visited Mr. and Mrs Gilbert Pulsipher and family and with Miss Lucille San-ford San-ford who went there recently on a mission. Miss Helen Tipton entertained at a delightful masquerade party at her home Saturday night. A pretty color scheme in pink and green was carried out in room decorations dec-orations and in a dainty lunch. Guests included Miss Fay Ferguson, Fergu-son, Miss Edna Nielson, Miss Agnes Ryan. Miss Elsie Sumsion and Miss Ruth Crandall. ! Members of the Mothers Study club will meet Friday October ie, instead of this week. Mr and Mrs. Ed Anthon of this city have recently returned from a delightful trip to Burley and Delco, Ida. The famous potato crops are now being harvested at both of these towns, they report. Mrs. Emma Coplin of Mesa. Ariz., who has been spending the rummer with a daughter. Mrs. J. M. Sumsion and family of this city left recently for Los Angeles, Cal., to spend the winner with another daughter. Mrs. H. J. McLanncn and family. Before her departure she visited a few days with two sisters in Salt Lake City. Mr,, Annie Earl who came from Ogd'n and Mrs. Fannie Bunting who came from St. George Mrs. J. M. Sumsion will he hostess host-ess to the Daughters of Pioneers Camp Springville at her home Thursday, October 15, when the |
