Show KIWANIS CLUB FETE LOCAL TEACHERS HERE Teacncrs of the Springvillc and Mapleton .schools were guests of the Kiwanis club at their weekly program and luncheon last Thursday Thurs-day evening at Memorial hall. Approximately Ap-proximately 50 attended. Superintendent Owen L. Barnett of Nebo school district was the principal speaker. He speke on . modern methods of correlation and compared teaching methods of .today with those of the past. Few modern teachers require students stu-dents to do mucn preparation work at home. Students should be taught and studied he said. J. F. Wing-ate of the Kiwanis club and high school faculty member, mem-ber, acted as toastmaster. Music was furnished by Wallace Martin of the high school music department depart-ment and Mrs. Wilma H. Young also of the high school faculty. Reports were made by W. R. Eddington on the organization of a junior traffic police here and C. G. Salisbury stated that in an effort to have the club boost the church in spiritiual aims, roll call Thursday each member would answer to meetings attended during dur-ing the past week end. The meeting this week will feature a program on fire prevention pre-vention in observation of National Fire Prevention week. Clyde Scott, Provo fire chief, and J. L. Taylor, Springville chief will speak. Oliver Dalton will be toastmaster. Music will be furnished by Carl Nelson, Payson. |
