Show Employment Conditions Are Improving Says NRS Manager Deer Creek project, canal projects, pro-jects, road projects and private construction are expected to completely com-pletely take care of employment. "Yes," said Mr. Mildenhall, "It certainly looks like we've got what's been around the corner for so long." BY LA RELLE NELSEN "Are employment conditions really improving?" Mr. W. L. Meldenhall, district manager of the National Re-employment Service was asked. "Absolutely. Decidely so!" Mr. Mildenhall replied. "From our contacts con-tacts I would say things are just about four times as good as they were a year ago. The morale of the people is better. Those who come to ask us for work are happier, more sure of themselves, ! everything about them suggests bright hopes and more secure feeling." The Provo branch of the National Na-tional Re-employment service has given employment to 1,600 persons per-sons since Jan. 1 out of the 2,000 applications received. Of the persons employed, 900 have been placed in private employment, the rest in N. Y. A. and W. P. A. Most of those seeking employment employ-ment at present are youths between be-tween the ages of IS and 25 who are out of school. Heads of families fam-ilies and those with dependents i have practically all been provided provid-ed for. About 15 per cent of those applying are women. "The only thing that is keeping us from giving work to every eligible eli-gible person is the weather," said Mr. Mildenhall. "As soon as the rain and sleet clears up, a great deal of private construction stands ready to begin immediately. We wish to thank the employers in this district for their splendid cooperation. |
