Show I Local I PROVO Three Brigham Young university students from' Springville Spring-ville have been cast for parts in Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," which will return to College Col-lege hall on the night of February 27((. according to Professor T. Earl ! Pardoe, head of the speech department. de-partment. During its two presentations pres-entations on Thursday night of Leadership Week last month, this play attracted 1750 people, the largest number to attend any Leadership week function. Sam Sorenson and Miss Tess Packard, juniors, will play the leading parts of Petruchio and Katharina. Hazel Anderson, senior, sen-ior, will play the part of Delia. The entire cast is composed of members of Theta Alpha Phi, national na-tional professional dramatic fraternity. frat-ernity. Gardner Talmadge, son of Mrs. George W. Talmadge of this city, has recently been appointed assistant as-sistant filing clerk in the U. S. treasury department, at Washington, Wash-ington, D. C, according to word received by his mother here, recently. re-cently. He also is attending George Washington university in the capital city. Gardner graduated gradu-ated from the local high school last spring and left in June for Washington. Mrs. Kate Holley of this city recently returned to her home from the L. D. S. hospital, where she has been confined for the past several weeks, following a major operation. Milton Harrison of this city, was recently appointed treasurer of the Utah county fair board, to be in charge of the fair for the coming year. Grant Alleman who left here fourteen months ago to fill a mission mis-sion in Australia, has been made district president of the West Australian mission with headquarters head-quarters at Perth, West Australia, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman of this city. Fred H. Markam of Provo, will give an illustrated talk on "Architecture" "Archi-tecture" at the meeting of the local Kiwanis club, Thursday evening, eve-ning, at Memorial hall. A splendid splen-did musical program also will be given under the direction of C. O. Claudin, toastmaster. The Mapleton Boy Scout Troop 66 spent Saturday afternoon on a hike to Rocky Peak. The following follow-ing tests were passed by some of the boys: tracking, cooking, and fire building. The boys all cooked cook-ed their own dinner and had a fine time. |
