Show SOCIETY NEVS I Mrs. Mattie Palfreyman, Mrs. Eugene Bird, Mrs. Elsie Condic, Mrs. Sylvia Crandall, Mrs. Zelma Beardall, MrsLora Patrick, Mrs. Sarah Mendenhall and Miss Melba Hall of Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Robinson and baby of Salt Lake visited this week with Mrs. Robinson's mother Mrs. Agnes McKee and family here. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Packard and i son Milan have returned to their 1 home after a visit with friends and relatives at Springville. Mrs. Ellen A. Harmer has returned re-turned from a three weeks' trip to Raymond, Alberta, Canada. She visited with ner daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Mendenhall. Men-denhall. Mr .and Mrs. Louis Coleman of Provo announce the engagement of their daughter Afton to Howard Ostler, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Ostler of this city, the marriage to take place Saturday in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pettie, Miss Ann Pettie and Captain NicTIblos Conover of Englishtown, N. J., have spent the past eight days as guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McCurdy of this city. They plan to leave fore tneir home today and will be accompanied by Miss Elsie McCurdy who will spend a month visiting places of interest in Virginia, Kentucky and the eastern states. Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Mangelson and daughter Lois and Miss Codeal Mangleson of Levan were guests of Mrs. Mangelson's mother, Mrs. Mary Z. Hatfield last week. The Gleaner girls of the Second ward were delightfully entertained Tuesday mht with a lawn party at the home of Mrs. Rowena Rig-trup. Rig-trup. A review of the book "Miss Bishop" by Nell Caff ell and musical selections by Mrs. Jessie Dalton featured the entertainment. A dainty lunch was served at the close of the party to over forty class members and guests. Miss Doris Wild has returned to her work in Salt Lake after spending- a week with her mother Mrs. Maud Wild. Among, the Springville people who attended the legion and auxiliary aux-iliary convention at Logan the past week, were Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Will Phillips, Phil-lips, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Will Grooms, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Miner, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Barron, Frank Salisbury,- Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Packard, Mrs. Ellen Anderson and Mrs. Julia Sumsion. Mrs. Reynolds was elected alternate national commit tee woman to attend the national legion-auxiliary convention conven-tion at Miama, Fla., in October. ; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hutchings , and baby of Salt Lake were ; Springville visitors Sunday. Creed Hardy and Merrill Meyers of Los Angeles, Cal., have visited the past ten days with relatives and friends here. Dallin Southworthi connected with the government air service at Miama, Fla., visited the past week with friends and relatives here. Edward Hutchings, son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hutchings returned re-turned the past week from a 31-months 31-months mission in Australia. His mother and sister Jessie met him at Honolulu where they spent a short time before coming on to California, where they were met by other family members including Mr. Hutchings, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Rigtrup and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne York. Judge and Mrs. George Chris-tensen Chris-tensen of Price announce the engagement en-gagement of their daughter Florence, Flor-ence, to G. Donloe Kennedy, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Kennedy of this city, the marriage to take place this fall. Miss Christensen is a graduate of the University of Utah and was a teacher at the Price high school the past year. Mr. Kennedy also is a graduate of the Umver;y of Utah and is at present employed at Las Vegas, Nevada. , Mrs. Mary Z. Hatfield entertained enter-tained at dinner at her home Monday Mon-day in honor of Captain Nicholos Conover and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pettie of Englishtown, New Jersey. Jer-sey. Other guests included Mrs. Olive McCuruy and Mrs. Daisy Kelly of this city. Mrs. Hatfield was assisted by her daughters Mrs. Flora Maiben and Mrs. Thelma Hatfield. John Bennett and Mrs. Emma Maude Wilde both of Springville were granted a license to wed at the county clerk's office, Provo Monday. I Harvard Osmund arrived from Washington, D. C. this week, to visit friends and relatives here and at Provo. He will be accompanied home by Mrs. Osmund and little daughter who have spent the summer sum-mer here. Mr. and Mrs. Howard McCurdy and family of Salt Lake were Springville visitors last week. Bruce Taylor a former Springville Spring-ville resident visited friends and relatives during Black Hawk week. Kolob stake Primary board members entertained at an outing at Kelley's Grove. Monday afternoon. after-noon.
