Show PAYSON WINS 4-H CONTEST AT SARATOGA I Annual Bovs' and Girls' Outing Attended By More Than 1000 Scoring a total of 2G9 out of a possible 300 points, Pay-son Pay-son won the silver cup given to the 4-H club unit, scoring highest in the annual Utah county 4-H club outing at Saratoga resort Tuesday. Payson won first place in the stunt contest, second in the j watermelon design, and second in jt the treasure hunt, to win the ' coveted award. Pennants are to be awarded Nebo stake Payson for her winning stunt; Pleasant View for the best watermelon design, de-sign, and to Springville for a singing program which was adjudged ad-judged best in the stunt division. Lively Program More than 1,000 persons, including in-cluding approximately 700 club members, attended the meeting. Beginning at 10 o'clock in the morning, a lively program was mapped out with the watermelon design, the stunts and the treasure hunt as features. Judges of the contests were Miss Ivy Hall, home demonstration agent of Salt Lake county, and Miss Thelma Huber, home demonstration demon-stration agent of . Davis county. The outing was in charge of the extension agents, Lyman H. Rich, Anson B. Call and Miss Alice Ped-erscn. Springville took first in the atunts with a musical program, scoring 96 points, Nebo stake featured fea-tured the Spring Lake club in a comic stunt on ill-fitting shoes to take second with 95 points, Alpine took third place with 90 points, and Utah stake took fifth with 85 r points. I'leasant View Wins-Fashioning Wins-Fashioning an intricate design with seeds and rinds of watermelons, water-melons, which represented a forest icene with the 4-H club emblem interwoven, the Pleasant View club took 86 out of 90 points to win the design contest. Nebo stake won second with 82 points, designing a Golden Eagle, emblematic em-blematic of loyalty. This was done by a combination of the Pay-son-Spring Lake clubs. Utah stake amassed 80 points to take third with a bfe-hive design, and Le-land Le-land and Vineyard tied for fourth place. In Die treasure hunt Leland won first; Payson, second; Lehi, third, iind Lindon, fourth. Points toward the 'silver cup were won as follows: Payson, 269; Alpine, 261; Springville, 252; and Pleasant View, 244. Points were awarded on the following fol-lowing schedule: Attendance, 100; watermelon design, 90; stunt, 100; treasure hunt, 10; total, 300. |
