Show Pioneer Day To Be Ob?s ?d Here Fine Progr...i-6f ' Activities Outlined For Entire Day Under Direction of M. I. A., With D. U. P. Cooperating Plans are piactically complete fur an elaborate Pioneer day celebration cele-bration in Springville under the direction of the stake M. I A. recreation committee. Band concerts by the Springville bands will be held at the city park from 9 until 10 a. m. and from 7 until 8 p. m. Immediately after the' forenoon concert the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Pio-neers are sponsoring a splendid program, at Memorial hall. Short talks will, be furnished by Mayor John L. Whiting, Mrs. A. W. Finley and representatives from the state and county organizations. Glen and Harold Holley. Miss Hannah Rowlandi Mrs. Ellen W. Anderson, Ralph Weight and Will Parry will furnish musical numbers. Russell Hales will entertain with musical readings. At this time the formal opening of the relic room at the city hall will also take place. At 2 o'clock the primary oigani-zations oigani-zations of t Ire stake will conduct a circus parade including an exhibition exhi-bition of children's pets, at Ihe city park. Mrs. Tess Packard will also entertain with some of her dance students. A well arranged program will be given at the paili after the circus parade, under the direction of the stake Relief societies. Numbers include; in-clude; Cornet solo, Ralph Weight; selection, Third ward ladies' chorus; vocal solo, Mrs. Isabel! Brown; vocal selection. Second ward ladies' chorus; dance ensemble, ensem-ble, under the direction of Mrs. Tess C. Packard, depicting the placing of the flag on Ensign peak with chorus number, "High on the 'Mountain 'Moun-tain Peak." During the Relief society program, pro-gram, the children wil be entertained entertain-ed with competitive sports of all kinds including a lug-of-war between be-tween wards, and a greased pig exhibition at the park under the direction of A. V. Nelson. Prizes will be offered the winners in each event. A baseball game and other competitive com-petitive sports will be held at the ball park during the afternoon, free of charge, under the supervision of the M. I. A. After the band concert in the early evening, a dance will be held in Memorial hall to conclude the day's program. Citizens of Springville and Maple-ton Maple-ton not only are invited to 'attend but an invitation is extended lo all surrounding communities to ioin in the day's celebration. |
