Show PLANE FALLS; FOUR KILLED SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 16 U.F! ! Four persons wej-e killed today ! when a northbound air mail plane , fell into San Francisco bay whilo circling for an emergency landing. Oil and gasoline from the crippled crip-pled motor spattered on the surface of the water and caught fire, engulfing en-gulfing fthe wreckage in flames. Trapped inside the cabin, the pilot and three passengers were believed be-lieved to have died instantly. They were: Kirk Herre, reporter of the Seattle Star, a Scripps-Can-field newspaper, Saattle .Wash., F. I. Sheahan and Col. W. H. Bissel of San Francisco, both en route to Portland and Ray Boudreaux, the pilot. The plane, a United Airlines ship making the regular early morning run to Seattle, took off shortly before be-fore 4 a. m. Boudreaux apparently ran into immediate difficulties, for the plane was heard returning 10 minutes later. |
