Show SOCIETY NEVS Miss Bessie Finley will give a book review at the meeting of the Ladies' Literary cltiD, Thursday evening, at the home of Mrs. Hannah Han-nah Callister, the meeting having been 'changed from the following Saturday. An outstanding social event of the past week was the banquet Friday evening given by the senior class girl's in honor of the football team. Coach Paul Thornl, Prin-I Prin-I cipal E. E. Knudsen and Harold ' Harmer, student body president, were also guests. Miss Evelyn Metcalf acted as hostess and Miss Charlotte Hall as toastmistress. Toasts were given during the evening eve-ning by Principal Knudsen, Coach Thorn, Max Sumsion, Bill Wilkins Wilk-ins and Harold Harmer. Miss Eu-lalia Eu-lalia Condie gave a vocal solo; , Miss Marjorie Child, a tap dance; Misses Mae Johnson and Beryl Whiting, a vocal duet. In attendance attend-ance were the following team members: Max Sumsion, Ted Rowland, Row-land, Bert Taylor, Bryce Thorn, Acel Roundy, Bill Clark, Bill Wilkins, Wilk-ins, Russen Bird, Max Rowland, Jim Wilkins, Blaine Clyde, Finley Roylance, Grant Alleman, Gordon Livingston, Frank Bringhurst, Joe Miller, Blaine Averett, Reginald Oakley, Woodrow Wing, Elmer Jensen, Dick Loveridge and Le-land Le-land Allan. j Mr. and Mrs. Ford D. Crandall and children, formerly of this city, 1 came from Ogden Sunday to visit Mr. Crandall's parents Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Crandall and other relatives at Provo. Mr. Crandall has been promoted to manager of the Boise, Ida., life insurance district dis-trict and has left to take up his new work. Members of the Elite Bridge club were delightfully entertained Friday evening at the home li Mis. Bell Sumsion. After the card games a tasty luncheon was served serv-ed at small tables to Mrs. Lela Nelson, Mrs. Ida Wignall, Mrs. Marjorie Frandsen, Mrs. Flora Maiben, Mrs. Cleonda Miner, Mrs. Delia Clark, Mrs. Coe Nelson, Mrs. Almeda Evans, Mrs. Alta Alleman, Alle-man, Mrs. Fay Snelson, Mrs. Thel-ma Thel-ma Clark, and Mrs. Elsie Thryett, the latter being a guest. Mr. and Mrs. John Dougall Sunday Sun-day accompanied their son Mac back to Salt Lake where he attends at-tends school, at the University of Utah. Mrs. Sophronia P. Hall, widow of Joseph S. Hall celebrated his seventy-fourth birthday Saturday evening with a family social and luncheon at her home. The guests enjoyed radio music and social cnai. In attendance were the following fol-lowing children and families, Mrs. njdna Wheeler, Mis. Solon Wood, Eleanore, Clifford, E. O., and rheron S. Hall. An other son El-wood El-wood Was unable to attend. Mis. iriall was born at Perry, November 18, 1859. She came to tins city with her mother in 1865, and has lived here since. She was married November 15, 1878. Mr. Hall died seventeen -years ago. Due to continued ill health, Mrs. nail has been unable to participate partici-pate m community activities for some time. The marriage of Lawrence Blackett, son or Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Blackett of this city and Miss Tiessa Moore, daughter of Mrs. L-ydia Moore of Spring Lake, took place Monday at Provo, Bishop Walter Whitehead performing the ceremony. Mrs. Mary Peterson from Palmyra Pal-myra spent Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. J. C. Nielson and family. Dr. and Mrs. M. D. Bringhurst of Salt Lake visited here Monday due to the illness of Mrs. Bring-hurst's Bring-hurst's mother, Mrs. Eliza Thorn. i The home of Isaac Beck of J : Spanish Fork was the scene of a I j delightful surprise party Tuesday evening, the occasion being in commemoration of Mr. Beck's i seventieth birthday. A large family fam-ily dinner was served after which dancing, and a delightful program were enjoyed. Mr. Beck is the father of Mrs. Vance Gividen, who with her family, was among the guests. Members of the Alpha Beta club were delightfully entertained Friday Fri-day atternoon at the home of Mrs. M. R. Straw, ivlrs. Mae Hunting-con Hunting-con in an especially pleasing and interesting manner reviewed the nook, "Soit Spot," by A. S. M. ' nutcninson. l quartet from the high school, including Fred Black-1 ett, Eulalia Condie, Etvin Peterson and Mary Johnson, accompanied by Marjorie Straw furnished vocal music; also Miss Straw gave a ; piano selection. The meeting was attended by 21 members. The Home Culture club members mem-bers were guests Friday of Mrs. Nelson Beat at her home. An enjoyable en-joyable feature of the program was a review of the opera Kenn-hauser Kenn-hauser by Mrs. Eva Crandall with solo accompaniment by Miss Helen Palfrcyman. Miss Nedra Bcal entertained en-tertained with piano selections and David Beal gave readings. In attendance at-tendance were 21 members and guests. The Alpha Beta club will meet ; Friday November 21 at the home of Mrs. Vilate Reynolds, Mrs. Ida S. Dusenberry of the B. Y. U. will spoil k on her recent visit to Eu-rnpe Eu-rnpe and Asia. |
