Show MOONEY URGES NATIONTO ACT SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 12 (U.E) Gra -haired Tom Mooney, imprisoned impris-oned and branded a felon, saw his 15- year battle for freedom climaxed cli-maxed today with a demand for nation-wide action against injustice injus-tice and "framed -evidence." All the public opinion aroused by Mooney's famous case was centered cen-tered on the man behind San Quen-ton Quen-ton wall syesterday when San Francisco led the nation in acclaiming ac-claiming the hour for his pardon. Mooney himself sounded the call for action in a letter advocating a world-wide boycott against Califor-nit Califor-nit until he is out of prison. Art audience of 9,000 at the Mooney Moo-ney anniversary convention arose in a mass to cheer his message-! urging the adoption of the same ' methods that th eMahatma Gandhi used to "bring the most powerful empire to its knees." "This was accomplished very largely through the boycott," said Mooney in describing "the most effective weapon. I suggest that all athletic and sports representatives representa-tives refused to come to Los Angeles Ange-les in 1932 as long as I, an innocent man, remain in prison." He also urged the discouragement discourage-ment of tourists "by the workers and all the real friends of labor, and every lover of fair play and decency." ' |
