Show Mexican Laborer Found Dead In Bunk Car; Need No Inquest Mystery surrounds the death of Jose Garcia, 25, a Mexican railroad laborer, w-.io was found dead in a railroad bunk car, Tuesday afternoon after-noon at Scenic, a siding, this side of Soldier Summit on the Denver and Rio Grande railroad. There was no outward evidence of any foul play that might have contributed to his death, according to Sheriff E. G. Durnell. The sheriff, sher-iff, accompanied by District Attorney Attor-ney M. B. Pope investigated the case and decided that no inquest would be necessary. Garcia had been working on an extra gang until Friday when he was laid off. He went to Salt Lake, Sunday and was seen around the Provo railroad yards, Monday. He came to Scenic Tuesday morning, evidently ill, and tore the lock off the bunk car to gain entrance. He was found on one of the beds, dead at 5 o'clock, Tuesday when the workers came in. It is believed that Garcia was addicted to the use of marijuana, but no evidence could be found that any drug had contributed to his death, according to the officers. His body was brought to Provo, Wednesday by the Utah county ambulance. |
