A. stake board entertained with a surprise party for her at the family fam-ily home Thursday evening. A beautiful gift was presented to Mrs. Crandall who will resign her position posi-tion as organist of the board soon to be married. Games and a dainty lunch featured the affair with the following ladies present: Miss Fannie Fan-nie Rowland, Mrs. Harold Alleman, Mrs. Lena Maycock, Miss Inez Jessee, Mrs. Millie Anderson, Mrs. Maggie Wood. Mrs. Floss Phillips, Miss Josephine Peterson, Miss Floss Harmer, Miss Alene Men-denhall, Men-denhall, Mrs. Bell Childs, Mrs. Jordan Jor-dan of Mapleton and Miss Alzada Wilmott. - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman spent the week end in Salt Lake with Mr. Alleman's sister, Mrs. J. N, Childs, who is convalescing from a recent illness. Members of the Legion auxiliary were delightfully entertained last Wednesday evening at the home of President La Preal Friel, with Miss Helen Reynolds as assisting hostess. Mrs. Friel gave a financial report of the Fourth of July concessions and thanked all who participated in the day's activities.' A nicely arranged ar-ranged program was given as follows: fol-lows: Nana Lee Reynolds, dance, accompanied by Gloria Friel at the piano; Hazel Anderson, violin solos; Evelyn Miner, vocal solos; Clark Madsen, clarinet solos; lone Av-erett, Av-erett, vocal solo and musical reading, read-ing, accompanied by Mrs. Blanch G. Hales. In conclusion refreshments refresh-ments were served by the hostesses to 21 members and eight visitors. Mrs. Philda Finley entertained at a delightful little birthday party Monc'ay afternoon on the city' park, complimentary to her son, Calvin, whose sixth birthday occurred that day. A variety of clever games concluded with a dainty lunch were enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martin of this city had as Sunday dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gibson ! and daughters, Helen, Betty and May, and Mr. and. Mrs. Clifford . Reynolds, all of Salt Lake. Charles Thorsetesen, Emerson Thatcher, Jane Walker and ' Merle West all of Ogden were guests 'of Mr. Thorsetesen's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Crandall here Sunday. Miss Coba Coffell and Miss Marion Mar-ion Miner entertained members of j the Second ward Beehive class with a lawn party at the home of the latter Tuesday evening. Cher ring ton entertained enter-tained the 4-H sewing club girls at her home Wednesday afternoon. Mihs Mildred Houtz, who attended the 4-H outing at Geneva early in the week, gave a brief report of the various activities of the entertainment enter-tainment and the members rehearsed re-hearsed club songs and yells, with seven in attendance. Mrs. Clara Smith spent several days of the week with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Maud Holliday and family fam-ily at Santaquin. All attended the Black Hawk programs at Payson. Mrs. Eliza Russell of this city accompanied her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. George Russell back to their home in Berkeley, Calif., where she will spend several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Russell have been visiting friends and relatives here. The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Buchanan of Richfield spent the past week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John S. Boyer in this city. Members of the Social Twelve club motored to Upper Falls, Provo canyon, for an outing Thursday afternoon. Progressive auction bridge was the feature of entertainment enter-tainment with three tables for the game arranged. Prizes during the afternoon were awarded to Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, high score: Mrs. Ed Johnson, consolation, and Mrs. George Crandall, draw prize. A sumptuous supper concluded the party, being served to 12 club mem-' mem-' bers. Mrs. A. W. Bird and children spent two days of the past week with her daughter, Mrs. Floyd Harmer and family at Payson. Mrs. George Southgate and daughter Lucille of Salt Lake were guests last week at the Johji S. Boyer home in Springville. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mendenhall and daughters left the past week for Montana where they will visit a short time with another daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Almina Madsen and family. fam-ily. Acoompanying them as far as Madsen's were Mr. and Mrs. Deal Mendenhall and family who were returning to their home in Canada after several days visit here. Mrs. Paul Thorn and son returned re-turned the past week from Idaho where she has spent the past several sev-eral weeks with her husband. Mr. Thorn is in charge of a construction construc-tion camp there. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eiisworth and family of Mesa, Ariz., are visiting vis-iting with Mr. and Mrs. John Fox and other friends here and in Provo. Springville-Provo Bridge club members were entertained Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. Cora Shields in" Provo. Gore wish to announce the engagement of their daughter, Ethelle, to Wayne L. Anderson, of Spanish Fork. The young couple will be maried in the Salt Lake temple Monday, August 17. Mrs. T. O. Hutching has returned to Springville after spending the past three weeks visiting her children child-ren in Evanston, Wyo. In commemoration of fern 1 Hutch in g's twelfth birthday, Mrs. ' Ruth Popcorn and daughters Florence Flor-ence and Norma entertained 14 little lit-tle girl friends. After a program of outdoor games a dainty luncheon i was served. ,; Miss Fern Hutching returned to ' her home in Springville Sunday ; after spending three weeks at the home of her sister Mrs. J. C, Pep-j Pep-j corn of Ogden. Mrs. Ruth Pepcorn motored from Or.den to spend the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Hutching in this city . A number of friends entertained at a party Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. John S. Boyer complimentary com-plimentary to Bell Crandall who is to be married soon. Late summer flowers added to the attractiveness of the entertaining rooms. Games, I readings and a musical program were enjoyable features of the party. A dainty lunch was served in the late evening to about 45 guests in attendance. The guest lowed by dainty refreshments. Included In-cluded in the party were Ethel Crandall, Gladys and Avis Thompson, Thomp-son, Norma Harrison, Cleon Fox, Lois Hjorth, Harriet Miner, Hor-tense Hor-tense Crandall and the class leaders, lead-ers, Miss Mary Boyer and Miss Ellen El-len Wheeler. |
