Show Utah Fire mien Eleet Officers DEPARTED MEMBERS EULOGIZED Bingham Man Is Chosen President; Brigham City to Entertain 1932 Convention; Many Resolutions Adopted. SPANISH FORK The main business of the Utah State Firemen's convention held at Spanish Fork Tuesday Tues-day afternoon, was the election elec-tion of officers for 1931. Following Fol-lowing are the officers elected: elect-ed: Edwin Larsen, Bingham, president; H. H. Wardley of Bingham, Bing-ham, first vice president; Thomas Smith, Magna, second vice president; presi-dent; John J. Creedon. Bingham canyon, secretary; Reuben Simpson, Simp-son, Salt Lake, treasurer; organizer, organ-izer, Frank W. Hardy of Heber; ' Glenn Chadwick, American Fork; Captain W. T. Aylan, Salt Lake, five-year trustee. Holdover trustees trus-tees are John J. Hannifin, Dan Pet-ergon, Pet-ergon, L. Wiscombc and W. H. Elmer. El-mer. Canning Withdraws Charles H. Canning, who had tied Reuben Simpson in the vote for treasurer, withdrew his name in favor of Mr. Simpson, and asked that the votes which had been given giv-en him be given to Mr. Simpson and his election made unanimous. Several cities extended invitations invita-tions for the next convention, but Brigham City was unanimously .hosen by the delegates. The main address of the afternoon after-noon session was the memorial ad-ilress ad-ilress given by Chief James W. De-tine De-tine of Salt Lake, in honor of the Jiremen who had passed on during Ihe year. Mr. Devine spoke eloquently elo-quently of the great work of the firemen's association, and said that the way to best honor the comrades com-rades who had passed on was by doing the work well which their organization was bound by duty to do. President Macke, in behalf of the association, presented life certificates certifi-cates of membership to a number of firemen who had attended five annual conventions. Those receiving receiv-ing this honor were: J. H. Durrant and Robert M. Boardman, Provo; LeRay steadman, Midvale; Aaron J. Butte. American Fork, and Charles Brown, Bingham Canyon. ; Under the direction of F. J. Faux, the Lieurance club of 14 voices entertained with three selections. selec-tions. In the regular order of business busi-ness an amendment to the constitution consti-tution outlining more specifically the duties of the secretary and raising his salary from $125 annually an-nually to $180 , per annum, was unanimously adopted after open discussion. Adopt Resolutions Anothor amendment adopted was that of placing 25 per cent of the Pmount of the annual per capita dues in a convention fund, and dividing the remaining amount or a 50-50 basis between the genera tund for general association ex- I'onses and a mortuary and reserve fund. The resolution expressing gratitude grati-tude to Spanish Fork City firemen and officials for their hospitable entertainment of the convention "'as adopted with a rising unanimous unani-mous vote. The committee was discharged w'th a vote of thanks. The Hollywood Holly-wood Baby Stars, Thora and Va-'ne Va-'ne Stewart, entertained with tap ''ancing and acrobatic stunts.
