Show In The Scial Realm Mrs. Manilla Brown Reporter, rhone ne-w. ward chapel o Edward Bayer, w'..o leaves next week for the Netherlands Neth-erlands mission :delu. The playlet, "Mother NaLrrc's Workshop," under un-der the direction of Mrs. Earl Suasion, Sua-sion, was an especially enjoyable ieature of the evening. A delightful afternoon was spent Thursday by the ladies of the Kensington Ken-sington club of the Springvilie Community church when they were entertained at the home of Mrs. George Larson in Spanish Fork. An interesting program, social chat and serving were enjoyed, also a dainty luncheon which was served by the hostess to about 10 members. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harmer and Mr. and Mrs. Arvil Bird of Springvilie Spring-vilie were guests at the wedding reception of Miss Margaret Davis and Harold Johnson of Provo, which took place Saturday evening in the Timpanogos ward amusement amuse-ment hall. A benefit musical concert was given Wednesday evening in the Fourth ward chapel by Mrs. Hannah Han-nah C. Packard and a number of her pupils from Provo in honor of Frank Brown, who leaves soon for the northern states mission field. Alvie Zabriskie, chairman of the ward recreational committee, was in charge. A large number of ward members and friends attended. The members of the Social Twelve Card club were delightfully entertained enter-tained last Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Lee Sumsion. A delicious de-licious luncheon was served early in the evening at three small tables ta-bles after which progressive auction auc-tion bridge was played with Mrs. Lewis Clegg winner of high score favor Members and guests present included Mrs. G. D. Kennedy, Mrs. Floyd Harmer, Mrs. Arthur Fin-ley Fin-ley Mrs. Hugh Baxter, Mrs. Harry Pennington. Mrs. Lois Clegg. Mrs. Ella Crandall, Mrs. Ora Rowland, Mrs. Emma Rowland, Mrs. J. F. Wingate. Mrs. Will Phillips and Bn,n Tho hostess denhall, Louise Mendenhall, Marie Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Allan, Al-lan, Rapheal Falfreyman, Arthur Mendenhall, Almon Harmer, Harold Whiting. Condie Crandall, Vadal Childs. Frank Brown, and "Ghan" Carlston and Kelley Hanks of Salem. Sa-lem. The ladies of the Service Star Legion of Springvilie were delightfully delight-fully entertained Thursday afternoon after-noon at the home of Mrs. Leone West, with Mrs. Julia Packard. Frank Riggs of Springvilie Second Sec-ond ward left Tuesday for California, Califor-nia, where he will fill a short-term mission for the L. D. S. church. A well attended farewell party was given in his honor in the Second ward chapel Monday evening. In compliment to Frank Brown, a number of friends entertained at a farewell party at the home of Miss Louise Mendenhall in Mapleton Maple-ton Thursday evening, with Miss Marie Jensen as assisting hostess. A pleasant time was spent with games and music. Each guest present pres-ent gave the honor guest a letter to be opened at some future date while on his mission. They also presented him with a beautiful gift as a token of friendship and remembrance. In conclusion a delicious de-licious lunch was served to the following guests: Emma Le. Lucille Lu-cille Lee. Marie Dibble, Gracfl Hales, Nelda Jensen. Wealtha Meu- Mrs. ivianniii I was assisted in serving by Miss ! Luella Straw and Mrs. Melba Sumsion. Sum-sion. The Social Twelve Card club will hold their next meeting Thursday, November 22, with Mrs. George Crandall as hostess. All members arc invited to be present. Mrs J E. Hot field, president, presided over the program pro-gram which was given as follows: Community singing,, prayer, Mrs. Julia Packard; report of the recent re-cent board meeting held in Provo, by Mrs. Rose Boyer; vocal duet. Mrs. Hazel Latimer and Mrs. Eva Miller, piano solo, Mrs. Mary Wit-I Wit-I ney; reading, Mrs. Cecil Robertson; Robert-son; prayer, Mrs. Hannah Davis. It was decided by the Legion that the jelly drive to obtain jelly for the disabled soldiers Thanksgiving should begin at once. In conclusion conclu-sion a dainty lunch was served to about twenty members and guests by the hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Groesbeck of Ogden spent the past week end - with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. I W. J. Groesbeck in this city. |
