Show ly returned from California where xhc was called by the illness of her daughter, Mrs. Flora Maiben and her twin boys. While in California, Mrs. Hatfield and her daughter and family took thc'ir lunch and spent a day in Golden Gold-en Gate Fark in San Francisco. Just in front of Ihe entrance to the park was thu mouned bones of a large whale 72 feet long. Insidt' the entrance and on either side were the aquarium, the natural history museum and the art museum. mu-seum. The aquarium contained many species of fish swimming around in large tanks. The' natural history museum had no display many mounted animals including bears, lions, tigers and wildcats. In be art museum were many beautiful pictures, ' statues and statuettt-'s amf-ng which were a number made, by C. E. Dallin of Springvillr. On Easter morning Mrs. Hatfield and her daughter and family and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hatfield, attended attend-ed Easter sunrise service at Lake' Merrit. A number of different denominations de-nominations held a conjoint seVvice, commencing just as the sun rose. Lake Merrit is a delightful place with large trees, an extensive lawn and many beautiful fuowers. Easter day p. m. Mrs. Hatfield and party attended L. D. S. service at Elmhurst, a suburb of Oakland. One' day the party visited the Oakland airport where they saw a large tri-motored plane in the hangar, han-gar, supposed to be one which Lindbergh Lind-bergh had flown in. While in Oakland, Mrs. Wm. M. Hatfic-'ld served luncheon for Mrs. Mary Z. Hatfield, Mrs. Maiben. Mrs. Winnie Lee and ht'r sister, Gertrude, all formerly of Springville. FORMER TEACHER HERE Mrs. William Stookey and daughter, daugh-ter, Josephine, who was a former ttacher in Springville, were" guests Monday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Packard. |
