Show !( SOCIETY : Mr. and Mrs. George Gabbitas announce the marriage of their son George to Miss Peggy Woodhouse of Long Beach, Calif. The marriage mar-riage took plane September 21 t at j Santa Anna, Calif. Mr. Gabbitas is now employed in the Calitornia oil fields. I Mrs. G. T. Nelson was hostess at a party given at her home Saturday Sat-urday evening in compliment to Mrs. F. S. Slaugh, who was visiting visit-ing here from Price. Room deco-1 ration were artistically carried out ; in Hallowe'en colors. Cards and music were the main diversions of i the evening. Delicious refresh- I ments were served to eight ladies present. The Trail Builder boys of the Second ward Primary, accompanied accompan-ied by their instructors, Mrs. Mae Fletcher and Miss Lucy Wain-wright, Wain-wright, went on an enjoyable autumn aut-umn hike to Hobble Creek canyon Monday. The party left at 11 o'clock in a wagon furnished by Max Alleman. George Strong and Hugh Hjorth, and journeyed three miles up the right hand fork. The class visited and examined the homes of birds, bees, eagle and beaver. It was a perfect fall day and the many and varied tints of the hills made a decided contrast to the clear blue sky. Picnic lunch was served at noon and all present girl friends: Miss Myrle Strong, Miss Marie Simpkins, Miss Wanda Stewart, the hostess Miss Boyer, and guest of honor Miss Hardy. Outstanding among the social events of the week end was the informal in-formal reception given Friday evening eve-ning in compliment to Reverend Harold L. Wilson of the Springville Spring-ville Community church. The la- was served at noon and all present enjoyed themselves immensely. A farewell party was given Friday Fri-day evening at the home of Miss Fern Boyer in compliment to Miss La Vera Hardy, who left Sunday to make her home in Salt Lake. In the early evening a delicious hot supper was served, after which the girls went to the show. Later the party returned to the Boyer home, where they spent the night. Breakfast Break-fast was served to the following ville Community church. The ladies la-dies of the Kensington club were in charge, and an interesting program pro-gram was given as follows: Piano duet, Miss Marjorie Straw and Tess Hines; welcome address, D. B. Welch; response, Rev. Harold L. Wilson; readings, Miss Virginia Connors; vocal duet, Mrs. V. S. Wilson Wil-son and Miss Elizabeth Gillilan; vocal solos. Reverend Harold L. Wilson. After the program Mr. Wilson invited all present to visit his newly-decorated and furnished j apartment over the Manse. In . conclusions delicious refreshments were served to about fifty guests present. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Barron and family were guests at a well-arranged dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Welch at their home Monday. VISIT IN S. L. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Alleman visited during last week with Mr and Mrs. G. N. Child in Salt Lake City. Mr. Alleman also attended teacher's institute held Thursday, Friday and Saturday. |
