Study of Various Grades Mr. Wallace emphasized throughout through-out his demonstrations the necessity neces-sity of the feeders to study the grades demanded in the market for which top prices are offered, steers and lambs should be bought with an idea of uniformity ofj grad?, size and color. The import- ance of proper culling was' pointed out. so that in case a bunch of feeders were purchased that were not of the same grade, that the "bottoms" should be culled out and disposed of as quickly as possible, and the "tops" kept for proper finishing in order to get the profits pro-fits from the best market prices. He urged the farmers to pool their shipments and maintain a uniform quality in their carload shipments, instead of shipping mixed lots. The growing of more barley was emphasized by Mr. Wallace, Wal-lace, who maintained that tler" was more energy per acre from this cereal than from corn. |
