(UP) Trussed up by a burglar who in-1 vaded the telephone office early Sunday morning, Mrs. Hazel Hack-ler, Hack-ler, the operator, wriggled along the floor until she was able with her j foot to sound the fire siren, sum- j moiling aid. The burglar escaped, ! however, after rifling the cash box of a small amount of money. Mrs. Hackler suffered from shock but was otherwise unhurt, although the intruder tied a towel across her mouth and choked her with another. She was asleep when the burglar entered. Roused she attempted to call police and then was bound and gagged. While the burglar searched for the cash box, she rolled to the fire siren button and perssed it with her foot, but Night Marshal Adam Erickson failed to arrive until the j burglar had made his escape. 1 Mrs. Hackler said the intruder I was a young man, perhaps 22 qears j old, whom she never had seen before. |
