Show AUDITORS GIVE PRAISE I TO RECORDER i ! ' ! Springville City Council Holds Busy Session at Meeting Tuesday The Springville city pasture will he opened Friday May 1, l!)2fi, according ac-cording to a decision of the SprinR-ville SprinR-ville city council iiv regular session Tuesday evening. T'pon the recommendation recom-mendation of the pasture committee, Al Drifts was appointed custodian of the pasture during the current season. His salary was fixed at $05 per month. James, Ellis was appointed caretaker care-taker , of the Springville city cemetery cem-etery at a salary of $S5 per month. The irrigation committee reported that the contract let to the Wasatch Construction Co., to construct a new channel for Dry creek is completed, that the work is now ready for inspection in-spection hy the city engineer and that the payment for the" work is due. The cost of construction, according ac-cording to the contract price, is $2,230. The water works committee reported re-ported that there is a continual complaint com-plaint from citizens regarding the shortage of city water; that the city mains are not more than half full and that there is no water in the head house. The committee was instructed to make an immediate investigation in-vestigation in regard to huilding anothed head house and getting the water from the Birch Springs, into the line and if found feasihle to prepare pre-pare for construction on the same as soon as possible. It was reported that some of the citizens in the east part of the city had not had nny wafer since last December. A motion carried empowering the committee on public improvements improve-ments to make arrangements with the Springville band for band concerts, con-certs, on the city park, Sunday evenings even-ings during the summer months. Amos Wood and C. L. Wright who have been auditing the citv'e hooka for the year 1923 and 1924, made a final report to the council in regard to the audit. In commenting comment-ing on the report, Mr. Wright cou-maudator cou-maudator City Jlecorder W. W. Harrison in the careful and up-fo date way in which the city records were kept. The audit shows, said Mr. Wright, that the financial condition con-dition of Springville with its electric elec-tric light system and water works system is far ahead ol any other town in T'tah county. The auditors also recommended a double entry , Siystem of book keeping for the city instead of the single entry system sys-tem that is now being used. The council accepted the audit and gave a vote of thanks to the auditors for their careful and splendid splen-did work and for the many suggestions sugges-tions and recommendations they, jmade, which were considered by the i mayor and council to be of much value to the city. M. E. Crandnll, Jr., manager of the Springville Canning company, appeared before the council and asked for electric power to operate the pea vinneries. The matter was referred to the electric light committee. |
