Show 50 PRINTS OF DONATED TOT MASTERPIECES i Union Stake Relief Society of Oregon Sends Unique Collection I One of the most interesting t well ns valuable gifts which has been received at Brigbam Young university for the Holier J. Grant library, is a set of 50 prints of famous fa-mous art masterpieces, from the Union Stake Relief society of Oregon. Ore-gon. The gift was seiit by Mrs. Evelyn R. Lyman, president of the society, who explained that the picture pic-ture printed had been gleaned from various magazines by members of the organizations, and mounted on heavy cardboard. On the back of each print is a typewritten story of the artist and also a story of the picture, with some questions which are designed to lead to a "closer story of the work of art." In connection connec-tion with the gift, Mrs. Lyman says: "These pictures nro nearly ,all 'cut outs' from magazines.- Print making has become such a perfected art that these cut outs compare well with higher priced prints. "Our Union stake Relief society is now busy gathering and mounting mount-ing 'Picture Libraries' for our eight wards- and two hospitals, all of which wil lbe on exhibition at our September conference." , Mrs.j Lyman goes on to state that their plan is . to have picture Iiibraries circulate in much the same manner as books. The gift will be exhibited at the time of the semi-centenninl celebration celebra-tion of the university on October 15, 10 and 17, at which time the Holier J. Grant library building will be dedicated. |
