Miller of Hyrum will be event of August. Miss Judith Ann Wright engaged to Gerald L. Miller of Hyrum Mr. and Mrs. Chester E. Wright of Mapleton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Judith Ann Wright, to Gerald L. Miller. Mr. Miller is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Miller of Hyrum. The engaged pair will be married August 22 in the Logan LDS Temple. A reception will be given in their honor, by the bride's parents, August 23 in Kolob Stake House. The charming bride-to-b- e has completed an LDS mis-sion to Scotland. Mr. Miller has served an LDS mission to Austria. Both will continue their schooling in the fall at the Brigham Young University. Jay, who has been with the National Cash Register Com-pany for the past six and a half years, has been promoted to office manager at Flagstaff and is leaving to take over his new duties August 1. He with his wife and family have been living at Midvale. Another son Jerry D. Beck and wife and family of Ogden, were also guests at his parents home. He is also employed with the same company. Jay is reported to be the youngest on record to receive an office managership from the company. He has had ex-tensive schooling with the or-ganization in Dayton, Ohio; Santa Rosa, Calif., and Den-ver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Hailey Bird and daughter Carol and son Tom of Oakland, Calif., visited with relatives and friends in Springville Thursday enroute to their home from New York City, where they had visited his sister, Mrs. Charles (Ail-een- ) Harding and family. Mr. and Mrs. Don Stevens oi Clearfield visited during the weekend with relatives anc' friends here spending some time with her father, George Weight, who is at a rest home in Provo. Tour of Herald marks birthday Lynette Whiting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niel Whiting of Mapleton, entertained her little guests at her 10th birth-day party last Tuesday, w:th an inspection tour of the Springville Herald. They were accompanied by her mother. After visiting the Springville plant, the group assembled on the lawn of the Whiting home at Mapleton & enjoyed games and lunch. In attendance were, Shauna Mason, Annette Jensen, Jan Bleggi, Cynthia Hall, Deborah Hall, Julie Crandall, Barbara Hatfield, Debbie Peay, Melanie Mendenhall, Peggy Roundy, and the guest of honor. ::lo:yv''';'' l "KiL IMISS SONDKA SMITH of Provo who will be married to Holland Dean Johnson of Springv ille in Logan Temple rites. Dean Johnson to take bride from Provo in temple ceremony Announcement is made this week of the engagement and approaching marriage of pretty Miss Sondra Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Smith of Provo, who will be married to Rolland Dean Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy D. Johnson of Springville. The wedding is planned to take place in the Logan LDS Temple, August 23. The couple will be honored the evening of August 24 with a wedding reception in the 9th-1- 9 th LDS Ward Church in Provo. The bride-to-b- e is a graduate of Provo High School and attended Brigham Young University. She is presently em-ployed in Provo. Mr. Johnson, a graduate of Springville High School and LDS Seminary is presently attending BYU. He completed an LDS mission in New Zealand. LCB Club gives going-awa- y party LCB club members gave a potio party at the home of Mrs. Colene Beck Thursday evening of last week, in honor of Mrs. Gary (Marilyn) Har-me- r, who is leaving soon to join her husband at Albequer-que-, N.M., where he is em-ployed. The evening was spent vis-iting and the group presented the guest of honor with a lov-ely gift. Bonne Amitie Club has summer parties The lovely new home of Mrs. Carol Felix was the meeting place for members of the Bonne Amitie club Wednesday evening. After going through the home, the girls enjoyed vi-siting and games, climaxed by a nicely arranged lunch. Last weekend the club girls entertained their husbands at a steak fry at Kellys Grove with the following attending: Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bird, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Boyack, Mr. and Mrs. Albert McClain, Mr. and Mrs. Denny Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Robbins. Next regular club meeting is being planned for next Wed-nesday, August 7, at the home of Mrs. Colleen Bird. Boosters name new officers Approximately t h i r t members of the Boosters, ac-tivity club and those invited to join, motored to the canyon Thursday evening for a water-melon bust and election party. Diane Peirce was elected president of the club; Jeanne Allan, Melanie Crandall, secretary; Pat Thorn, reporter and Joyce Livsey, photographer. After the election, the gja'fs planned their annual tea nt which the new members will be officially invited to join. Club group holds breakfast Entre Nous club members spent a delightful time last week when they entertained at a breakfast party at Kellys Grove honoring Mrs. Erva Childs on the occasion of her birthday. Visiting and games were enjoyed following breakfast cooked at the fireplace. Several of the ladies re-mained during the day enjoy-ing lunch also at the Grove. |
