Show County iisfed for emergency drought relief Utah County has been recommended rec-ommended for assistance as an emergency drought area by the Utah Disaster Committee of the Agriculture Department. Depart-ment. It is among the 15 Counties in the state .covered in the committee's recommendation. Keith Jewkes of the Agricultural Agri-cultural Stabilization office in Provo said this week, it appeared ap-peared as if the crop production produc-tion would be only 40 percent of normal in Utah Conuty this year because of the gloomy water outlook. Mr. Jewkes said the most of the county depended heavily on water storage for crop production and that snow surveys sur-veys on watersheds supplying these reservoirs indicate the water content is from 9 to 60 percent of normal. Strawberry Reservoir, which supplies a good portion of Utah County's water crop production, pro-duction, .contained only 52,600 acre feet of water as of March 1, compared an average of 134,300 acre feet for this time of year. |
