Funeral held in Provo for former resident Funeral services were con-ducted at the Berg Drawing Room chapel, Provo, on Mon-day afternoon, April 1, for Conrod Nelson, 76, of Provo, a former resident of Spring-ville, who died Wed, April 13, 1963, at Eldred Sunset Hos-pital. Burial was in the Provo city cemetery. Mr. Nelson was a native of Denmark and spent his earlier life in Ephraim, coming to Utah with his parents in 1892. Later he lived in Elberta, Spanish Fork and Salem. Fol-lowing his marriage to Ruby Roberts, Nov. 3, 1915, he moved to Elberta, where he farmed and owned and oper-ated a general store. He was also in the trucking business and organized the Current Creek Irrigation Co. in El-berta. In 1946, he moved to Heber and in 1951, to Springville. He moved to Provo in 1957 and had lived there since. He was a member of the LDS Church. Surviving besides his widow is a daughter, Mrs. Marion J. (Leona) Olsen, Alhambra, Cal-ifornia; two grandchildren; five sisters and a brother Outdoors, redwood is the popular choice for siding, pa-tio, shelters, fencing and deck-ing. Profits in steel industry lower Profits in the steel industry fell for the third consecutive year during 1962, according to American Iron and Steel In-stitute today. Profits in 1962 totaled $566.6 million compared with revenues of nearly $14.0 bil-lion. Despite the fact that the total revenue went up 5 per cent (from $13.3 billion in 1961),' the 1962 profit figure was down 18 per cent from the $689.7 million profit of 1961. Meanwhile, according to a preliminary summary by the First National City Bank of New York, 20 other manufac-turing industries had increased profits in 1962 as compared to the preceding year. As a group the manufacturing industries made a 16 per cent increase, the bank's data show. Among- the reasons for last year's drop in profits, accord-ing to one steel executive, were increased employment costs; and a level of steel demand that continued below 100 mil-lion ingot tons for the indus-try for the fifth consecutive year.
