Show Alpha Beta Club enjoys book review Mrs. Berton Grosebeck reviewed re-viewed the book, "The Listener", Listen-er", by Taylor Caldwell at the Alpha Beta club meeting, Friday Fri-day at the home of Mrs. W. C. Harrison. Described as a novel of unusual honesty and simplicity, the book tells a story of how the troubled and unloved find help and comfort com-fort through the legacy of a wise and kindly man, who built a beautiful sanctuary, which had inscribed above its portals, "The Man Who Listens." Lis-tens." Mrs. F. Thomas Smith, club secretary, welcomed members and guests to the home of President Harrison, and asked Mrs. Harmon Hatch to lead with the pledge to the flag. Mrs. B. F. Krause read the club collect and Mrs. W. W. Clyde introduced Mrs. Groes-beck. Groes-beck. The hostess served refreshments refresh-ments at the close of the program, pro-gram, carrying out an Easter theme. She was assisted by her daughter, Paula, and special spec-ial guests of the afternoon, were Mrs. Phillip Harrison and Mrs. Fayne Laney. Next meeting of the club will be held May 3, in the form of a spring luncheon at Riverside Country Club. |
